johnny g
I think that's too new an engine for that car, I'd say the R36V.

Wez
Very nice If its similar setup to the Toyota GT500 V8 then it will be based on the 3UZ-FE.
Chris Wilson
Just to show that Dave also works on some decent cars, not just old rice buckets I have loads of in depth technical photos of Group C cars. I must have deleted them off my server, but if a few people want to see them I will upload them (very slowly) again.

Chris Wilson
Uploading now, on my home connection it will be a long time, I'll post the link later, they were taken by me at Donington's Historic Festival a few years ago. Hopefully you will find some shots of stuff not normally photographed.

Chris Wilson
Probably the fastest M800 in the world in that thing. Old Bob Berridge pedals it well given it's a lot over a million quids worth of carbon fibre he's sat in.
Jellybean
In the 2nd pic , what is the metal near vertical tube infront of the rear shocks (Center of the chassis) The rods with the sperical bearings that run from the roof to just infront of the rear brake ducts, I presume is for the engine cover ? no structural or suspension support? The wastegate is braced off a similar looking bar

Jellybean
Chris , Fraser MacKellar ; I read put Motec on the map in Europe? What is the story behind Dave and Fraser , why are they so highly regarded ?
Chris Wilson
They are both extraordinarily experienced and good mappers that specialise in Motec. Dave is now a Motec recognised independent and Fraser, as far as I am aware, works for Motec UK, all over the world. When people with million pound plus historic race cars need a modern, serviceable ECU they usually chose Motec, Life racing or EFI Technology. Syvecs is a spin off of Life Racing, as far as I know. I tend to stick to MOTEC as I am now fairly familiar with it and know the UK mappers.
Chris Wilson
Chris , Fraser MacKellar ; I read put Motec on the map in Europe? What is the story behind Dave and Fraser , why are they so highly regarded ? The first time MOTEC made a big impact on the UK was a round of the World or European Touring Cars at Silverstone I attended, and where the Australian, Dick Johnson, wiped the floor with the UK and European Sierra Cosworth "specialists" with the little known MOTEC ecu in his remarkably well sorted self prepared Sierra Cosworth. He retired with water pump failure, but showed just how fast the car was, and left the big European names aghast. It opened people's eyes in the UK and in Europe as to what those little gold boxes from down under could do compared to the hugely hacked about, complex and obsolete stuff they were running. Jellybean
Thanks Chris Between Haltech and Motec , I find it amazing Australian companies are the bench mark; I would expected it to be a company from the EU or US, solely from the racing legacy

And if you think MOTEC are dear you ain't seen nuffin'
Chris Wilson
Looks like the oil breather. And that last brace is attached to the turbo It is, many race transaxles have the engine oil tank in the bellhousing itself and that's a breather / oil seperator.
