Audi S8 V10 5.2

On my 2016 to do list is look at re-building these. I have a set from a V10 R8 here to investigate. I assume these are the ones with the magnetic fluid in them that changes viscosity under computer control, Audi call them "Magnetic Ride"? I know for a fact Bilstein do conventional sport dampers for the R8, but have never asked about the S8.

If you Google JRZ Suspension I suggest you contact them, I know they were investigating a normal oil filled damper replacement for these things.

Here's some bedtime reading for you

A quick look at that and you can understand why they're so expensive.

Won't replacing them with conventional shocks bring up all manner of CAN warnings?

Probably best to bite the bullet and replace them with oem, I'm sure the owner (you?) was aware of the costs of running an £80k car with Lambourghi components?

My colleague had to fork out the same and could only get it from the dealership. He was concerned going aftermarket would ruin the drive and all the computers connected to it.

Thanks for clarifying, not too up on the Audi cars , just trying to gauge what the options are ;)

Main dealer told me I would get 60mpg and servicing costs of 159 a year , I feel like I am a Blind Man in a Dark Room Looking for a Black Cat That Is Not There

One he has sorted this issue, you should really point him in the direction of a third party warranty. Will probably cost £2k - £3k a year, but at least there will be no more horrible shocks (excuse the pun :D). I sudder to think how expensive an engine or a gearbox would be for one of these.

These sorts of cars are a total liability once they get a bit old, afr FAR too many gizmos to go wrong, quite what the attraction is in something like that I have no idea, I'd be constantly afraid to press a button in case it cost a few grand and a lot of work :)

Mid life crazy crisis and constant trips to the garage with a R34 GTR [emoji23]

When it is working , nice place to be , better than my spin killing Prius , chains or chan tensioners are engine out and it's not something you can rush, procedural steps need to be done , 5 her estimate in the workshop manual at 5-6k a pop prior changing anything
