Jellybean
Maybe this? http://www.air-suspension-shop.com/Audi-A8-D3-4E-Pneumatic-shock-absorber-air-suspension-front-right-New-Part-4E0616040
Abz
My colleague had to fork out the same and could only get it from the dealership. He was concerned going aftermarket would ruin the drive and all the computers connected to it.
Chris Wilson
On my 2016 to do list is look at re-building these. I have a set from a V10 R8 here to investigate. I assume these are the ones with the magnetic fluid in them that changes viscosity under computer control, Audi call them "Magnetic Ride"? I know for a fact Bilstein do conventional sport dampers for the R8, but have never asked about the S8. If you Google JRZ Suspension I suggest you contact them, I know they were investigating a normal oil filled damper replacement for these things. Jellybean
Thanks Chris , bilstein have nothing listed for an S8 Here's some bedtime reading for you http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_292.pdf

Won't replacing them with conventional shocks bring up all manner of CAN warnings? Probably best to bite the bullet and replace them with oem, I'm sure the owner (you?) was aware of the costs of running an £80k car with Lambourghi components? Chris Wilson
OK, thanks, they are different to magnetic fluid ones in the R*, various Ferraris and Maseratis etcetera, the S8 seems to use a more basic air bag shock. Think you are stuck with main agents prices and OE ones.

Nic
Audi want 2500 per shock for the front of the car , anybody recommend anything cheaper without going down the 2nd hand route? How many miles have the shocks lasted?
j_jza80
One he has sorted this issue, you should really point him in the direction of a third party warranty. Will probably cost £2k - £3k a year, but at least there will be no more horrible shocks (excuse the pun ). I sudder to think how expensive an engine or a gearbox would be for one of these. Chris Wilson
These sorts of cars are a total liability once they get a bit old, afr FAR too many gizmos to go wrong, quite what the attraction is in something like that I have no idea, I'd be constantly afraid to press a button in case it cost a few grand and a lot of work
Scooter
I don't know precisely what I'm looking for but Ebay USA seem to have these at far lower prices?
Jellybean
How many miles have the shocks lasted? I think it's around 70 mile mark but reading up the longitivtiy is due to a few factors , surface quality , driving style and using dynamic mode consistently On all 3 counts I think he is stuffed
