ripped_fear
Hi all I'm carrying out a compression test on Tuesday. Anyone know the correct procedure to complete it out. Guessing its a simple as removing the spark plugs screw the gauge into the chamber and crank the car for a few seconds then leave the dial to settle. Do you have to pull a fuse before you crank it over or is removing the plugs enough? Next question is what numbers would I hope to be finding on each chamber? Thanks Jake
Mike2JZ
The exact procedure and details on what to do are outlined in the TSRM.
Tricky-Ricky
Fully charged battery, all plugs removed, pull the injector fuse, wedge throttle fully open, crank each cylinder the same number of times (at least 5) I think factory figures are anything over 140psi but I would expect more, can be done cold or hot, you may see slightly better figures hot, if any are low put in a teaspoon of oil in that cylinder and try the test again. ripped_fear
Superb thanks guys, I have TSRM app but I think its dreadful to find information. Thanks Ricky perfect, just so I know what I'm doing before I try it. Any idea which fuse the injector fuse is? Guessing its in the engine bay fuse box, any idea which slot? Under your engine bay fuse box cap, there is a diagram which will say what fuse is what. Also, the TSRM is available here on our forum rather than that app, and it has the details about what are the minimum levels of compression in it, so I'd reference that. Ok cool if its clearly labelled I'm sure I should be able to find it lol Ive just found it on the app, and it has the psi ratings so thats good to have on me when I do it Cheers
