Scott
What is the best arcade game ever Mr M? It's not my favourite but I believe the official answer is Pac-Man. It's either that or Space Invaders. I don't know if I could actually pick one. My personal favourites are: Afterburner Street Fighter II Sega Rally Daytona Shinobi Wonderboy I didn't really spend much time in the arcades though, it was more a holiday hobby for me. Graham1984
Personally I hated Pacman. Arcades are just non existent nowadays, rather than actual games they are just stuffed with cheap fruit machines which personally I find a bit sad really. Arcades are just non existent nowadays, rather than actual games they are just stuffed with cheap fruit machines which personally I find a bit sad really. The games are just not suited to arcades nowadays unfortunately. No imagination is put into the gameplay nowadays, it's all just a quick hit. I remember throwing coins into the same game over and over, nowadays I'll play them one time then move onto the next as there isn't any hook. I loved pacman when I was young. Infuriated me though. Ms Pac-Man was my favourite
Havard
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That was epic as a game. Chase HQ was my favourite driving game or Outrun. Yep, me too. I never went for the Pacman or Space Invaders. Defender was great, Asteroids or 1942. H.
Scott
1942 was another great game. I could never get into asteroids as I sucked at it. I don't think I ever played defender, before my time
Graham1984
Was Test Drive The Duel ever an arcade game? That made me used to love Lambo's, Ferrari's and Porsche's during the Megadrive years.
tkddav3
Sega rally, the house of the dead or crisis zone!
Graham1984
Rampage should get a mention too.
Frank Bullitt
I had forgotten about laser light games, abtin90 mentioned the Time Crisis franchise. You also have Vampire Night, House of the Dead & Mad Dog Mccree although this can be quite frustrating to play! The Street Fighter franchise has already been mentioned how about Final Fight, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, King of Fighters, Fatal Fury. There was also a fun Asterix arcade game from the early 90's released by Konami.

Kendo11
Definitely Time Crisis as mentioned before. Killer Instinct was also pretty good. Or just get a bank of 4 Daytona USA machines.
stevie_b
I know you said no 90's graphics but Operation Wolf is a must. Double Dragon was also an epic arcade game. H. Great shout on Double Dragon H. Brings back great memories!

stevie_b
Virtua Racer was a reasonable 2 player racing arcade.
Graham1984
Twat..!! I imagine little H playing the Amstrad when he was 19 years old and searching for the tapes.
Scott
I imagine little H playing the Amstrad when he was 19 years old and searching for the tapes. By 19 it would have been the rearward plugin cartridges. Times had moved on Double dragon was a beauty of a game though. I never played it in the arcade but I always had it at home. I remember the 3rd one being amazing, probably one of the best side scroll/beat-em-up's ever. Remember when they were called beat-em-up's
Graham1984
Remember when they were called beat-em-up's That's why I liked the Streets of Rage series (Bare Knuckle if in Japan) as I was 7-10 years old and hitting men and women with steel poles, knifes and swords and there was nothing deemed wrong with that. IMO it wasn't until Manhunt that the whole gaming rating issue really took off.
Nemesis
Gauntlet was good as a side scroller beat em up, but if you want instant pick up mental gameplay, then Smash TV was hard to beat.
Scott
One that always sticks in my mind was Golden Axe. I remember really enjoying that game but finding it far too easy. Same with Altered Beast. One of my FAVOURITE games was Shadow of the Beast III though. Doubt it was an arcade game but it was definitely one of the best games ever made.
