Just wondering, as a lot of parts under the car rust a lot, has anyone had any issues loosening the bolt to release the filter from the bracket? don't want to buy a new bracket because the bolts holding it to the car will probably cause me a right nightmare to remove. There are some that are rusted, careful use of heat can help for the 2 bracket to chassis bolts, you would have to be brave to take a torch to the filter band bolt though If it's never had a filter change expect the rear union to give hassle, Toyota overtightened them and the pipe flare gets mushroomed meaning they are VERY tight to undo, often tight all the way out. I use a marvellous German self gripping wrench that I would love to buy another of, but never seen one for years. Expect a lot of fuel to potentially spill, depending on how full the tank is, have something BIG to catch it in, in case you end up mucking about for ages. If you don't like neat petrol up your arms and even up your arm pits don't do it Don't have a helper addicted to fags.... Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I was going to disconnect power to the pump, run the car and starve it to use the fuel in the lines and then do the job, would that work? - - - Updated - - - I've just brought a new OEM filter, it comes with the bracket already attached. SupraP-Z Posted February 12, 2016 Share Posted February 12, 2016 Mine cost a tenner from my local toyota dude - no messing around. It also came with the bracket as well, took about 15 mins to change!
