ben_harmer32
Car was running fine would boost easily to 1.2bar. At the weekend I fitted a metal air intake. After car felt odd. Had a look an saw one of the vac pipes had got clamped between the intake and a metal engine pipe. (black one) I got the pipe out and car felt better but since then it won't boost properly. It'll hit just over 1.0bar then drop to just over 0.5bar and won't go any higher. (possibly second turbo not kicking in?? But not sure) I have checked the pipe that was trapped and can't see any damage. I also had the top intercooler pipe off whilst fitting but again can't see any damage and they are done up tight. Any ideas please? Edited February 10, 2016 by ben_harmer32 (see edit history)
Style
Reset the ECU? Might be playing up if it was seeing dodgy vac behaviour
ben_harmer32
I did that yesterday (disconnected the negative and left it for a while) Just took it out again and it's boosting fine?
ben_harmer32
Changed the vacuum tube and changed the clips on the intercooler pipes I took off and so far so good. Fingers crossed
ben_harmer32
View Video, http://s1074.photobucket.com/user/Ben_Harmer/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160221_200011_zpsktsv2kta.mp4.html Still having issues. Boost is hesitant to start, will then boost but drop before second turbo kicks in. Will then boost fine but go to 1.4bar?
bebby
I know completely off topic and not going to help but where did you get the metal intake pipe from? That's some weird issues, you got a boost controller fitted?
ben_harmer32
Brother bought it for me off eBay I believe, I've changed it back since and still having issues. Boost is controlled by the HKS F-Con ecu.
ben_harmer32
Have put it in TTC mode and it still doesn't feel right. Hesitant and the boost fluctuates until it's on full.
supra_ufo
sounds like a dodgy VSVs apparently if you take a 9V battery and use two cables you can test the VSVs, they should make a click noise if they are working.

That's why I put it in TTC mode to bypass the VSV but still felt wrong
Samurai 20V
You have a vac leak somewhere if after bypassing VSV's there is still an issue..Trace your steps back and see if you disturbed any pipes.. Or the pressure tank has failed..
ben_harmer32
If the pressure taking has failed would I not get any boost at all? Edited February 23, 2016 by ben_harmer32 (see edit history)
Samurai 20V
If the pressure taking has failed would I not get any boost at all? U will get some boost as your turbos will be functioning, tank stores boost..
ben_harmer32
Got even worse this evening. This is full throttle. Click image below for a video. It's spools, then drops right down, then there's that weird spike? Then it won't go above where it sits?? Ian C
It sounds like you've affected the Exhaust Gas Control Valve, and it's not opening now. If it doesn't open, then the exhaust gas from turbo 2 can't flow out the exhaust, so #2 doesn't spin. Turbo #1 carries on doing all the work and you sit at 0.5bar with little power as it's overspeeding and overheating the air charge (don't carry on doing this btw, you risk detonation). The overboosting to 1.4bar sounds like you've affected the wastegate system as well, and that's the second VSV in that area. You really need to pull the intake off again and check everything for damage etc
ben_harmer32
Thanks for the help guys Just reading this: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35926-The-sequential-system Think it could also be the IACV or the EGCV, will investigate more tomorrow. Big Supes
IMO, get rid of those vac lines and put some decent thick rubber ones on. Are you running a boost controller?
ben_harmer32
Yeah got an HKS EVC, found a pipe off on the IACV VVC in the end. Seems to be working Ok again now
