Westy
Hi folks. Having a bit of a dilemma regards sending a supra spoiler I recently sold. Due to the size of the item ParcelForce come up on most sites as the cheapest, but I read more into their T&Cs and it is clearly stated that do not insure car parts and finding a courier that does seems an impossible task. I've read the terms now for pretty much all of the big name couriers and liabilty on there part is limited to set values on car parts despite giving you the option to pay more for the increased insurance cover. It's a joke tbh. My question to you good people is who do you use for sending parts? And have you even had instance where you have had to make a claim due to the courier damaging the item??? But most importantly of all did you recieved the full value compensation as a result of the claim???? Thanks
Scott
Parts such as this are rarely covered by insurance, I couldn't find anything that would even fully cover headlights. Went with a risk it approach I'm afraid. You could try shiply, it's usually independent couriers that bid for your custom so you may be able to have some sort of pre-requisite in writing. Westy
I know mate. The terms of carriage listed for all couriers I've looked at completely blow any prospect of a successful claim out the water. It's a joke
Burna
Ask Littlenum, he ships car parts all the time, not Supra parts though.

peter richards
go to a main dealer bodyshop and get a large box that maybe a bumper has come in , if its packed properly i cant see there being a problem.
kraig
I ship a lot of stuff Westy, but as you've found pretty much anything that is deemed fragile really isn't covered. I would spend the extra 10 or so, on extra packing materials, rather than on 'insurance'.

Good advice, I use to post brand new GRP and CF rear wings from HK to the UK and made sure they were VERY well packaged with loads of bubble wrap, cardboard reinforcement and packaging tape. I must have sent hundreds over the years and only ever had one damaged as far as I can remember, they were always couriered at the UK end by Parcel Force. Al Massey
I use Paisley freight. You can actually choose what car part you are sending. I've used it quite a few times now
Chris Wilson
Box it like hell, or insist collect only, or deliver. I would make the buyer arrange collection, life's too short for the hassle
drift_bear
DO NOT USE PAISLEY FREIGHT! I used to use them and had no problem, the last 2 times I've sent stuff it hasn't arrived when it should or they leave it somewhere and never get it signed by the receiver! I used to use them and had no problem, the last 2 times I've sent stuff it hasn't arrived when it should or they leave it somewhere and never get it signed by the receiver! What company does the collections in your area? TNT used to collect in this area, but now its APC, i'm sure paisley freight are only a broker, unless it different per region. I booked a 'Bonnet' service through the site a few months back, spent a good hour wrapping the thing up, driver from APC turned up and refused to collect, obviously i was annoyed, said to the guy "whats the problem?", "Its too big", "Its a bonnet its the service i've booked!" "But it's hardly a Corsa bonnet" (was from an S Class Merc, so pretty big) "I didn't have the option to chose what make of bonnet i'm sending!", "I'm sorry" and off he went. Had that been TNT they would have collected no problem, so can only presume they have lost they're account with TNT. Notice the options for the bigger stuff is gone from the site now, so only use them for Alloy Wheels now, and pallet the bigger stuff. BoGlE
Go with paisley freight and cover it in "fragile" stickers. That'd be my way around that.

drift_bear
Paisley freight/APC has struck again with major fuck ups and let downs! Tried sending a spoiler to chris (carbon_bullet) and it took them 4 days to pick it up after various instructions and was ment to be next day (paid extra).....still not there! It also took them nearly 5 days to drop of a package to me!
Westy
Need to send SideSkirts this time....who sent you yors Alex and what courier did they use. Would be interested to know the courier price
and1c
Your best using anyvan for a lot of things IME. Just wait 2-3 days for the best bids to come in and pick someone with plenty of feedback, not just the best price. Job done I've had a heavy (and valuable!!) gearbox collected from the seller on the south coast and delivered to me oop North for £100, same day service, text messages about his progress. Faultless. Smaller stuff they often put together with other deliveries to the same place so you can get a good price and guaranteed no hassle pretty much.
