Piggyback or Standalone ECU for ITB Conversion

Hey all,

So as per my build thread, I am fitting a set of 4AGE Black Top ITB's to my Supra.

The mechanical side of the project isnt really an issue, but the ECU/Mapping side of it is all new for me.

So my question is, do i really need a standalone unit? Or would a Piggback suffice?

From what i can figure out, all it needs to do is compensate for is the removal of the Idle Air Control, Intake Air Temp Sensors and control the fueling too.

The ITB's have a Throttle Position Sensor fitted already so that can be wired in.

Is there anything i have missed?

I think i may need a wideband Air/Fuel Gauge too,

I think your going to need a stand alone, as with most piggybacks you can't tweak things like IAT or idle air, so the existing ECU is going to throw faults if they are missing.

Fair point, i suppose there would be a greater level tune ability with standalone too.

If you consider standalone I'm selling my aem v2

Thanks for the offer, but i may have something lined up

How are you going to control the idle with out the idle air control valve? Are the throttle bodys fly by wire?

I guess it could be controlled by other means, maybe within the mapping/fuel?
