NA Supra running issue

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have looked through the forum for a few hours now, but not able to find details of what it could be as nearly all of the posts are about TT's

My NA has an occasional running problem. It stutters and cuts out. This happens when its either hot, cold, at idle or driving at speed.

I thought it was dizzy cap so had a full service done on the car, it seems to still do it.

What are common causes of an erratic running engine?

Many thanks

Hi Scooter,

It was starting over like normal, just wasn't catching this morning.

Just tried it again and it started but was erratic again. Smoothed out, took it for a drive no issues. Then when I got back, it cut out.

Tried the paperclip thing in the diagnostic port and it flashed consistently, but on the O/D off light.

Flashing OD light usually means dodgy converter, but it should not really affect start or idling. Might be also speed sensor. If there is no engine light on, I would start from fuel, might be some dirt clogging filter and then falls off when car cuts out.
