JordanC
Hello, Just a question about Facelift indicators, can someone explain to me why I can get a set off eBay for £40 posted or I can buy some from whifbitz for £140? Whifbitz: http://www.garagewhifbitz.co.uk/toyota-845.html eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=121533149146&alt=web What's the difference? Genuine Toyota vs copies? j_jza80
Yeah I really want to change mine, but i don't know which to go for. I've bought brand new lights all round this year except the indicators, so I'm thinking genuine is the way to go.
JordanC
If they are genuine Toyota though, surely there must be a part number for them? Or are they just not produced anymore?
keron
ebay are copies... you will also need the oem looms to make them fit too. these are about £33ish a side on top...
j_jza80
Keron, do you know if theres much difference in the quality between the genuine oem ones and the copies?
ripped_fear
Just for reference if your happy to leave the sidelight hole blank you can get away without the looms. Just trim the rear of the light.
keron
genuine all the way really.... the copies are not sealed properly so they let water in. ive got the oems on shelf with looms as well. genuines £130 a pair, looms £33 each (£66 pair)
Ric
I went from OEM toyota to the ebay ones. The orange inside the OEM ones is a bit off putting. The Ebay ones have no orange lenses (so require orange bulbs or LEDS) and they appeared just as quality as the OEM, fit great too.
j_jza80
I thought as much. Thanks
keron
ive seen guys use mr2/celica looms etc to make them fit to save buying the looms but not a neat job. the looms will also still need splicing in anyway to fit on a pre-facelift. if your going to do it, personally id do it oem. Yes its costs more but you get a better finish.
JordanC
So is there a part number for the OEM ones?
Nic
81510-80086 LAMP ASSY, FRONT TURN SIGNAL, RH 81520-80086 LAMP ASSY, FRONT TURN SIGNAL, LH The LH front indicator/sidelight doesn't include the wiring harness (they plug directly into the main wiring loom on a facelift) so you will either need to fabricate a harness or buy an extra RH wiring harness (the tabs of the bulb holder will need modifying slightly to fit the LH indicator). Either way they are not plug and play, you'll need to wire up the side lights to the wires that go to the headlights on a pre-facelift, there is a guide here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?31633-How-To-Fit-facelift-front-indicators If you buy non genuine indicators they don't include the bulb holders/harness, so you'll need to buy 2 x harnesses This is the part number for the extra harness 81515-14390 PLUG ASSY, FRONT TURN SIGNAL LAMP
JordanC
Great stuff, cheers guys. I will get a price from Mr T in a few
JordanC
Just incase anyone is curious, I priced up with Mr T For the 2 light assemblies and the extra harness as recommended, £175.93. They can only do 10% on most non-service parts so its about £158 with the discount applied.
Style
Sorry to hijack the thread but are there any alternatives to the facelift inidicator markers on the front bumper as well? The orange OEM ones just don't suit my car and I'd rather get a smoked or at least clear set
j_jza80
I've just ordered a set from Toyota, so ill be giving my original toyota ones a good cleaning up and putting them up for sale in the next few weeks if anyone is interested

The only ones I've ever seen are these ones http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?328525-Clear-indicators

The only ones I've ever seen are these ones http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?328525-Clear-indicators No, the facelift indicator repeaters that sit at the corners of a facelift front bumper. Indicator only lights if you know what I mean. There's proper names for these but they're escaping me just now, sorry Nic Ideally the same size and just smoked or even clear. Josh
I've got the eBay indicators and they have been fine for the last few years. To save money, I bought some connectors from eBay for them from the advice of a forum member, and besides the 2 weeks it took for them to be delivered from Taiwan, they cost me about £6. Nic
If you compare the OEM Toyota and aftermarket facelift indicators side by side the OEM ones are much better quality. The OEM ones have orange reflectors inside the indicator section, the aftermarket ones have all chrome reflectors which can be a deciding point. These are the OEM ones on mine. You can also see the transparent front facelift side markers fitted in this pic.
