Chris Wilson
My friend was at a top UK engine builders when someone came to the desk and asked the head guy if they'd build a drift engine. He paused for a while, composing himself, then said, "That is like asking a Saville Row tailor to make you a suit, only for you to want to wear it in Harlem. Good day". And no, I promised not to say who it was

Chris Wilson
Between myself and Britain's best engine guys lies a huge void. Facilities, knowledge, contacts and reputation. I struggle on, doing my best, but far removed from the talent elsewhere. I am a lot cheaper though.....

I think you have saved me quite a few times with electrical niggles when the other traders were stumped.
johnny g
Chris is MkIV's treasure Building a drift engine must be a hiding-to-nothing. The most abuse to an engine? High temps, low airflow, massive cooling requirements?
j_jza80
What surprises me about drifters is their obsession with turbocharged engines. Surely an unstressed, high torque Yank V8 is the ideal thing to get the wheels spinning?

Surely an unstressed, high torque Yank V8 is the ideal thing to get the wheels spinning? Most of the Nissan drift barges seem to be fitted with 2JZs I noticed over the past 4-5 years but also some Skylines are more and more commonly being LS swapped they make a hell of a good noise as they slide around. Chris Wilson
My best comment from motorsport people was from a Swedish performance company I rang some time back. Me: "Do you speak English?" Someone with lots of ff's and sss's in his surname: "Naturally, we are not savages you know". That was some time ago, I wonder if he would now add "Despite Merkel's attempts to change things" to the end?
Chris Wilson
NOTHING surprises me about drifters. The best drift car would surely be something like a Caterfield? Best I don't get going on this.....

V8's don't go choo choo or have as much "street cred", therefore uncool and not used as much (in the uk at least, americans are all over it) The sooner they switch to V8's the better imo. Surely an unstressed, high torque Yank V8 is the ideal thing to get the wheels spinning? The yanks seem to have the right idea with the majority using V's. I guess it's down to what you know and like to work on as well
