haz182
So, i thought i would start a build on this supra i recently bought. I owned a gz aerotop about 6 years ago, after owning several supra's i managed to get my hands on another as missed my original one! Regarding plans for the car, once i have it looking the way i want/ replaced what needs replacing/ sort out the interior as want to make it abit 'unique', and clean up the engine bay ( completely stock at present) i will be going down the single route, had originally planned to do this asap but has had to be put on hold for several months. So first things first, here is how the car looked when i got it home. having quite a collection of parts in my garage the first thing i set about was removing the current wheels and fitting some XXR's that i have. should anyone be interested the wheels that were on it i'm happy to sell I've always liked the stance of the XXR's and they been sat in my garage too long! so here are couple of pics fitted ( this opening a bag of issues that i will get into later) I also fitted clear side repeaters and swapped the rear and front lights for facelift, but i will be fitting glass headlights once I've refurbish a set with black inserts, also will be putting a set of LED rear lights in once me and my mate get round to finishing a set! having owned a number of black supra's and my previous aerotop also being black i felt i wanted a change, having always been a fan of the jewel green and RSP blue supra's it was a toss up between these colours, as my pocket isn't currently deep enough for a full respray i decided to go down the wrap line... having been skeptical of this before i looked into it then made the decision to give it ago... having a look at the closest matches of the two colours i decided to go for a blue. Luckily my mate has been doing this for a number of years so i bribed him with food and we turned up the radio and did a all nighter on doing the colour change! having started at 8 in the evening ( after a long day at work) then finally finishing at ten in the morning.. several coffee's later we had nearly done the whole car! So after a whole night the car now looked like this... so here is how the car looked in the morning... and here with some friends! After a couple of days to catch up on sleep we hit the workshop for another evening and finished off the car.. i couldn't be happier with the results, has completely transformed the car! here are the picture's of the finished look. I'm currently unsure of weather to leave the spoiler or to add a TRD one at a later date... shall be wrapping the roof and the mirrors in a glossy carbon fiber as and when but more than happy with the way it looks... So the next thing i had to sort out was the issue these wheels have caused.. having such a offset they would rub on my arches when i hit a bump.. so i went back into my garage and came out with a set of tein's, seeing as the car still has the original suspension on i felt this needed to be changed regardless. The exhaust wasn't to my liking either as was very loud and as i'm getting older i wanted something a little more refined and kinda to my ears, so i chucked a HKS super drag in my boot along with the suspension and went up to SRD to have this fitted with a full geo set up too. couple of pics from today of how it currently sits, more than happy with the ride height now, the wheels don't rub at all and it feels only a fraction stiffer than stock suspension, many thanks for all the help at SRD looking dirty already back home! so that's how she looks at present, this week i'm just going to get some new speakers in and a CD player, as still on the original speakers... if the weather is kind to me i will also fit a inter-cooler that i bought earlier this week and fitting a new rear number plate! I always enjoy reading other builds weather they massive builds or small ones, so i felt i would try and write one up too, i will update this when ever i have done anything' Next couple of months will just involve small jobs tell i get around to hopefully fitting a single, Edited January 27, 2016 by haz182 (see edit history)
