Been in talks about a week mate but bought it last night. Just waiting to hear from him to remove it ect. I didn't pay the asking! Nowhere near but I'm only around the corner so pick up is easy. Its actually done 27,000 miles according to previous company who removed it

Did you buy this one Rob, as it is still on EBay

As already mentioned. nearly every one of these boxes I have seen has about 20k miles..... Yeah, over the last 5 years maybe.

I think the price of the v160 is a bit daft but would pay £4k for a good conversion, however they don't come up often at all and usually I miss them.

The BMW route is a good one. And there are other options that will become more prevalent as V160s break, start whining and no one can rebuild them except for a US specialist. After looking at it the market over here is not worth anyone going to the trouble of repairing them, its such a niche box unless it was your own whats the point of investing in all the tools needed.

At the end of the day the cars will keep appreciating for sure, but if everyone keeps breaking the cars to maximise value then that just pushes the value of whole cars up further for owners ,perpetuating the cycle!

Agree with all the above

I have contacted 3 garages/Part suppliers this week, all have a gearbox with between 25k and 30k miles on them

Amazing how you hardly ever see these low mileage Supras until after they are broken into bits:rolleyes:

I am looking into the BMW M3 gearbox conversion and it is looking a good option at the minute

Is it the getrag 420G 6 speed that's used? If so it's only got a torque limit of 368 ftlb

Has anyone done a detailed thread on the M3 gearbox conversion? I've searched and cant find anything, just wondered what's involved...

Does not seem to be one, but it has been mated to the 2jz a lot in the drift world

Yes it is and the torque figure has been question a lot, as it has been put in some big power cars and lasted, the Driftworks car is running around 800bhp I think from memory and been going for 2 or 3 seasons on the same box with no issues

The other option is the box they put in the Diesel 330d or 530d they are stupid cheap to get
