I was looking at the foot pedals and noticed that on the clutch pedal lever, there is a switch just like the one for the foot brake which i know is for the brake lights.

Just a guess...........is this for when you put the car in reverse you get a beep?

BTW my switch is disconnected.....and i don't have a beep! Al.

It may be for the US markets where the car won't start unless the clutch is depressed, to prevent the idiots starting in gear and running into something / someone. When you say disconnected, do you meant there is a piece of wiring for it hanging nearby, or is there just a switch, but no apparent piece of loom near it?

Hi Chris, i understand what you mean about for the US market. As we build CRV's US spec at work.

I'd have a guess that it's a switch to turn off cruise control.

You wouldn't want your rpm bouncing off the limiter if you were cruising at 70, then pushing the clutch down.

As you have a SZ, it's unlikely you have cruise, which is probably why it's not connected...

Do you really build US cars in Swindon, and then ship them to the US? Blimey, I'd have thought that was uneconomical.

Rob, yes we are currently building 550 CRV's a day, the large majority are going to the States. :) Al.

Thanks Matt & Chris for shedding some light on the clutch switch.Al.
