Rough idle, Lights flashing, Car Dies

I had a problem with my supra a month ago when it was idling very erratically (500-1200) and It would eventually die. I was OMW to an Auto parts store when the car back fired, and it died completely. it refused to turn on. I took it to a mechanic, and he replaced the Crank sensor, timing belt gear, welded the thin shim looking wheel thing to the gear(that popped off and messed up the crankshaft sensor), and did a throttle re adapt. Whatever that means.

I got it from the mechanic 3 days ago. I drove it for three hours and It was fine. When I parked my car, it started idling a little weird again jumping 100rpms at a time from 800, 1000, 500, etc. And the lights are dimming with each jump, also the battery voltage gauge jumps with the idle. I was told it could be the alternator or the ICV.

I tested the ICV by unpluging it in the morning after a cold start, and nothing happened(supposedly it should drop the RPMS to 500), so according to my mechanic that could be the problem. And it's been getting worse every day.

I used a guide on here to clean it out. and it did nothing the car is back to jumping several hundred RPMs and It dies sometimes.

The Idle control valve is expensive, and I dont want to pay that but I will If I have to. First I want to know if anyone has suggestions as to what It may be.

As far as the Light problem goes, could be the alternator?? Is there a way to test that? From my understanding, the light issue should not really be affected by the Idle control valve. I am a newb, however and the extent of my career fixing cars is changing a battery, and cleaning this valve.

Please help.
