Silece2k6
Hi. A friend bought a 97 Facelift Supra with 2JZGE and V161. At Cold Start the Car revs to 2.200rpm and goes down to 2.000 for a long time. Is this normal? The Car and engine are full Stock and has 120tkm on the clock
Josh42
Check for vacuum leaks on the breather system for the cams/throttle body/inlet.

Scooter
From memory they are always fairly high 1800rpm ish. If you leave it idling you should see it step down every 20-30 seconds or so as it warms up......what is it's hot idle?
Mike2JZ
NA's have a high cold start idle. Takes roughly 5 minutes for it to settle back down to 900-1000rpm. Also, if you have your headlights on this will increase the revs slightly at first. Whilst the cold start is normal, some thing you can check quickly to make sure you aren't idleing higher then necissary: - Check for vaccum leaks, any leaks causes revs to raise to compensate due to MAP sensor. (assuming yours is a jap import) - Ignition timing that is advanced past the factory 10 BDTC will also cause revs to be higher
