Anyone successfully claimed back monthly fees for a bank account?

Well are you definitely covered for a breakdown or for your home and travel insurance?

Or is it a case of ringing up and finding out you've been shafted because you didn't read the fine print?

Nope, I've used it all. :) its all the real deal. Not been stung by anything. You speak to the banks 24 hour helpline about the service you need (e.g. breakdown cover) and boom, everything is sorted within minutes, painless and effortlessly. Not a single penny leaves your account.

I booked our holiday and will be the first one with my new born and wife and I are going to look at one of these accounts. With the Nationwide and it offers free (well in with the £10 per month) worldwide family travel insurance, also European breakdown and recovery cover and mobile phone insurance.

When you take them all out separately and that I am now in a position to take a couple of holidays per year, £10pm is nothing......................unless when it goes wrong but that is like independent insurance too. Till you want to use it you never know.

Nationwide is the one I'm with. Flex Plus account I think is the one I have, it's been good so far. Interest gets added around the same time for me so i just count that as a little discount to the 10 pounds monthly fee

As they are neither fraudulent, hidden or applied under duress or via misinformation i can't see how you could possibly cite a reason to try and reclaim them. It's like trying to reclaim rental payments. It's a service and they charge a fee. Your choice whether to accept when you open an account, surely?

I was going to say similar. It annoys me when people start jumping on a bandwagon of claiming back for stuff on a technicality which they were happy enough to sign up to and saw going out of their account every month for years.

It's theft in my book.

Would you expect your insurance company to refund you after a year because you'd not claimed?
