BOB B
I'm after advice and or do's and don'ts to fit pre facelift mounts, (with pre brackets) to a facelift car, do I have to have the engine lifted or can it be done in sittue, and if it can be jacked and done on the drive how difficult would it be. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Mike2JZ
I believe you will need to get the engine hoisted slightly in order to get enough room to get the old mounts out and new one's in, though the engine doesn't have to come out. jonc
Yea lift the engine slightly and it can be done in situ. I changed my mount for new facelifts one but I would change for pre facelift if I had to do it again
Scooter
You can do both with just a tiny lift of the sump, and when I say tiny I mean the stock scissor jack and a block of wood and 3-4mm Here is my drivers side write up....I've not done my passenger side one yet, but did it on another facelift tt I had in the past. It's a fiddley job but I preferred taking a few bits off a working in the tight spaces to major engine shifting to create room. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?327331-Facelift-TT-drivers-side-engine-mount&highlight=Mount
Scooter
Also do you have the bolts as well as the preface lift brackets? I only say this as the facelift intake side mount has one long bolt you can't reuse on the prefacelift brackets, so you need an extra one of the regular other bolts when refitting. BOB B
Thanks for all your advice and answers, Scooter, I don't think they are coming with any bolts, though I'm sure I will be able to get one from some where, thanks for the heads up though. So it looks like I should be able to do this myself by either the use of an engine crane or using some softwood and padding jack the engine up a bit by the sump. I'm just about to look at the thread you put on there, so hopefully it will give me some idea. Cheers. Ok, just read it that seems reasonable, I'll probably do it over a few days, I'll try to remember to take a load of photos, so maybe we can add it to your thread, or I may do a detailed thread on doing both and see if I can get it made sticky. Scooter
Passenger side mount info from memory. Again I removed a subframe support bracket from below. The coolant needs to be drained slightly, and the coolant hoses to the oil filter housing removed (a pain!). Oil filter off Oil housing off to allow the mount bracket to be removed I left the intake in situe, undid the pas reservoir and lifted that out the way, to allow a breaker bar in from the top. Mount and bracket can be lifted out through the top.
