Gaz6002
I do like the American terms. Makes more sense to me really. I actually thinks its along the lines of being racist to come on a forum and tell us how not to talk like Americans. Like WTF dude, c'mone...REALLY?! OMG It's not racist to deplore laziness! Al Massey
Once noticed, it can never be unnoticed and you'll find yourself repeating it out loud every time you hear it. Yep, I can already hear myself saying it
Eddie-S
Well, I am glad it's not just me. Two of my favourite rants below.. God damn it 'American is NOT a language. It is a bastardisation of English, and to suggest phonetic spelling is better, then why do they not have their own dictionaries to illustrate EVERY word in phonetic American.?' 'There is no such thing as 'American English'. There is English. And there are mistakes.' Maybe I can get some sleep tonight now
formatzero
Seems to me we are developing a few of our own. So,seems to be the new way to start all sentences! and lots of well known TV people seem to have a passion for Becuz instead of because. One of my favourite TV shows and only 3 more weeks to find out what happens to Mike. I must say I've never noticed how often they use the term goddamn though haha... I know american sayings are bad but we are equally as bad nowadays lets look at some very commonly used nonsense that Brits have 'made up' REEM, BAE & many I can't even bring myself to say

stevie_b
Do we blame them for finishing a sentence with a high tone? Kind of every sentence is a question? It's called Upspeak, and it's very annoying. Quite often used in Australia too.
Al Massey
The Scottish do that, end a sentence with a question.

stevie_b
Isn't BAE American made What does BAE mean? I thought you meant British Aerospace at first.
wattwatt
What does BAE mean? I thought you meant British Aerospace at first. "Bae," Urban Dictionary says, is an acronym that stands for "before anyone else," or a shortened version of baby or babe, another word for sweetie, and, mostly unrelated, poop in Danish It is more commonly and annoyingly used for baby/babe It was also used by Pharrell Williams and I think Miley Cyres in their latest tracks too. sideexitsupra
Don't disagree with whats been said but not many people know that originally aluminium was aluminum! It was Humphry Davy that discovered the metal and originally called it Alumina but changed this to Aluminum by the time he published his work. Charles Hall was dominant in the production of Aluminum and changed its name to Aluminium on all his patents, and the name stuck! So this is one where the Americans are technically right and we are wrong. Makes a change!
