David P
Regardless of imagination, the dipstick has the final decision in this simple matter! Now give it a go and see if it is mended, you might save yourself a lot of walking.
David P
That is the first you have mentioned re. fitting an oil cooler, how many more secret ways might this be self inflicted? Check that the flow and return hoses are not trapped or kinked.
pete.osborne69
I mentioned the oil cooler in the first post lol Oh yes its defenatly self inflicted I have checked the cooler and fitting for leaks after it was installed and had been topped up with oil, engine was also running so the joints are fine, there's no kinks in the pipes and there not trapped as they have plenty of room. This is only one of the three issues I currently have lol but its the worst one the others arnt that bad in comparison (I'm sure someone will disagree) But for the amount of work I've done and considering it was my first time at anything like it, I don't think I've done too bad
David P
I'll give you that one. Whatever it is, is in the above posts, just work your way through the list. Shiny and broken is not too good. Edited January 6, 2016 by David P (see edit history)
pete.osborne69
I will do, hopefully its now sorted I'll have to wait till Friday to find out, and maybe order some more oil just in case, only 500ml left, and I've got the p/s fluid to change yet. Anyways thanks to everyone for their help and I will report back when I have sorted the issue
David P
Excuse my curiosity, but why do you have to wait and walk to work until Friday, before you can drive it around the block and see if it is mended?
pete.osborne69
I'm doing after all the money I've spent on her and don't get paid till Friday and not sure how much is left in tank considering the fuel needle no longer moves when the car is turned to on so don't want to risk running out between home and work lol
trebor69
The needle will go as low as the middle line of the E and still run, as I found out once when I accidentally turned on to a motorway when searching for a fuel station.
pete.osborne69
Fair enough I will try as soon as I've had a little nap, been up since 0200 and will see if everything is fine thanks for the info nice to know there's quite a bit left then
GTR Fever
as David said, one litre is enough to cause poor function. Hell even 500ml can cause it! Fluid level is extremely important. Hope it's a simple fix like topping up the oil!

pete.osborne69
OK so it turns out the oil pan is leaking slightly had it in a garage and they found the leak These are the 2 sealants I have the Threebond is the exact same as Toyota's black sealant Would any of these suffice for sealing the oil pan or would I need something else like rtv sealant Thanks, like you said it was self inflicted lol
David P
I have previously sent you an invite to the Transmission Group that you have not responded to? Answers to repeated questions without me having to write them out again for those too lazy to read and without confusion from old wives will be found there. Here's the page about resealing the sump. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=176&do=discuss
pete.osborne69
Ah thanks, will have a look now I apologise for the repeated questions
pete.osborne69
Does rtv sealant specify it on the tube or is this what it is http://reviews.halfords.com/4028/174675/reviews.htm I'm only asking as I know what rtv stands for but a search on halfords brings the Granville silicone sealant up but it doesn't mention if its rtv, and a Google search also bring up different sealants up but I've only found one that says trv on the actual bottle that goes in one of them guns. Thanks again
David P
That'll be fine, maybe I'm not trying hard enough, do you think that I should post pretty pictures of each and every tube of sump gasket potion in the Transmission Group? If the "garage" that will be doing the job doesn't know what potion to use, maybe you need to show them this picture too?
pete.osborne69
No you did an excellent job on explaining how to reseal and clean the oil pan no pictures needed and the "garage" won't be doing the job as they want £100 for 20 mins work and that's with me supplying the atf fluid And it was me asking about the gasket potion as this is my first time working with potions so I need to get a grasp on what the differences are and what can do what, and thank you, all of the help is appreciated.
