Rob_Mitchell
Hello guys, firstly happy new year to you all. Right, im currently trying to get my polishing and plating out in the wide world and it's something i haven't really had to do before. I have a page on Facebook which gets my work out and gets me jobs. I want to target cars and motorcycles as its in my comfort zone and I love shows ect. I have got business cards and getting leaflets made so I can get myself to some shows and meets. Harley Davidson contacted me to do some work for them but I still want to expand and grow. Any ideas on how I can go about this? Is social media the best answer? Like I said I'm not too good at this as its all new to me but I have so much drive as I know my service is good and not many gold platers about nowadays who have an eye for detail. If anyone belongs or has contacts in the custom bike scene please contact me so i can send a email ect. Thoughts and help is much appreciated?? j_jza80
Definitely take the work from Harley Davidson, it will provide you with publicity and prestige that you just couldn't pay for. I would also consider taking some examples of your work to renowned car and bike builders etc (physical examples, not pictures). Word of mouth referrals from these companies will also establish you with the right people.
Rob_Mitchell
Yeah that's what I did when I went to see Harley, I took parts from my new build and people just flocked around them. It was pretty overwhelming and loved chatting to them. I think I'll drive out to a few showrooms at weekends and make myself known then?? Ellis is making me some fliers to give out too. which will help.
johnny g
Take the Harley work. Photo the hell out of it, with a water mark and URL for your business then get it on social media with the hashtags #Harley #Davidson etc Social Media marketing is so much more than Facebook, get on Instagram and Twitter. hamzahkhan
You need to hashtag like crazy and have posts often. Look at some instagrammers here with many followers. Also follow some local car photographers / groups and tag them in your work, they will re gram and you will get followers.
SupraStar 3000
Google rankings will help bring your website up the pages when people search for related phrases. I know companies that make millions per year and all there advertising gets pumped into google rankings. This is a specialist area that you will need to get out sourced. Basic stuff like uniforms and embroidered polo shirts might help,... Oh,.. and pretty half naked girls standing with your products at car shows. Rob_Mitchell
How the hell does Twitter work lmao? Do I have to add loads of people or does everyone see my posts?
kitch79
How the hell does Twitter work lmao? Do I have to add loads of people or does everyone see my posts? Ha. You 'follow' people. Or prob in your case brands and company's. Search for Harley d and other like minded people/brands. If they follow u back, they'll see what u post. You can add them into a post though even without all that using the @ key. For instance "Oi @harleydavidson promote my product now!"
SupraAyf
Hi Rob, a Happy NY to you too. My plan would be to do a good job for HD first while attempting to establish a service contract with them at the same time. I would then approach as many brands as possible to see if you could use your work with HD to get a similar contract with them too. You can run the social media coverage in parallel to your business efforts but once you gain a multi-brand portfolio then at that stage you can start monopolising the market in your area. That's how I would do it mate.
Rob_Mitchell
Thanks mate. Yeah things with Harley is my main priority and also getting my new build out there is important too. Started on Twitter and I can't really get my head around it. Instagram seems to be easy to use
SupraAyf
Thanks mate. Yeah things with Harley is my main priority and also getting my new build out there is important too. Started on Twitter and I can't really get my head around it. Instagram seems to be easy to use Hi Rob, Just speaking out loud for a moment: A pal of mine, based in Portsmouth, was a very good air brush artist who managed to paint a brand new Harley bike to a fabulous standard and then managed to get the Southampton Harley Dealer to display it in their showroom. The Harley boys seem to spend a whole load of cash on their bikes and high ticket items so with this in mind my mate started taking orders like there was no tomorrow. The orders came thick and fast but he cocked it all up by promising everything and not delivering his services on time. In the Harley world this is a particular big no-no. I wonder if you could do the same by displaying your goods first hand ;-) All the best, A

My company, http://www.justbusinesssolutions.co.uk , has some excellent contacts in the world of digital marketing, so we can probably at the least get you some information and quotes across.
