Nic
How much oil is it using? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?319358-Valve-stem-seals
gurteen0
130 miles with a bit of hard driving is taking it down to half way between full and low only smoke for a few seconds on cold start than almost fine other than a tiny bit in traffic on pull off other than that it drives perfect
Scooter
Might want to check the turbo seals as I don't think the seals will cause that high a rate of oil loss...
gurteen0
Not getting smoke on boost I don't think?
Swampy442
You get smoke on hot idle with shot turbo seals. If both those seals failed it still wouldnt account for that much oil loss. Its what, a litre of oil in 130 miles? You'd notice the smoke for sure!
gurteen0
Stem seals?
MKIV-Supra
Check the compression could be the Piston rings too. 0.5l - 1l is too much for Valve stem Seals. I think shot turbo or Piston rings.

Likely Turbo seal or broken ring.

gurteen0
Here are a few pics from today checking pipes out and taking plugs out the plugs are dry but did have oil sitting on top of plugs like a pipe was leaking on top confused
Swampy442
The oil in the pipework is perfectly acceptable and normal, and is from the breather system. Oil in the cylinder head well is probably from a combination of leaky cam cover gaskets and messy oil top ups.
Chris Wilson
It could *VERY* well be stem seals and with new turbos at circa £1300 plus VAT each, and about another £1000 to fit and supply gaskets, oil, filter etcetera I suggest you start by changing the stem seals! Bear in mind the valve guides may well be knackered too, these are old engines.
gurteen0
Would the colour of plugs give some kind of answer to it
Swampy442
Maybe...

Swampy442
Thats the problem, forget making it look nice, make it mechanically perfect first. They are old cars, they will need things doing.
gurteen0
I took the old owners word that all was good so thought I could get on with styling but oh well she been perfect in the end lol
gurteen0
Evening all done a compression test today here are the results 1=175 2=175 3=175 4=175 5=170 6=
Mk4Gaz
Oh dear! I'd suggest getting a leak down test done sooner rather than later, as that will be more accurate in finding out what's going on with cylinder
rider
Oh dear! I'd suggest getting a leak down test done sooner rather than later You can buy kits readily to run this test if you also have an air compressor to hand. There is a good write up available on how to diagnose if you do get pressure leakage, http://www.allpar.com/fix/leakdown-test.html
