rider
Anyone used the RP Synchromax in their V160 or 161 boxes? Its about a third of the price of 'Toyota' oil which is said to be bog standard ATF.

Scott
IIRC I used Esso DIII or something like that. It was in the Oil thread way back when. Silky smooth gear change here
sebas
Which oil grade do you use guys in V160/V161? There is plenty in Royal Purple offert, from something normal like 75w90 up to 75w140 Or maybe Motul Gear 300 is another option?

sebas
ok. i have done my homework! now i know that i was looking on wrong RP gear oils. According to Royal Purple web site "Synchromax is recommended for manual transmissions that specify an automatic transmission fluid" http://www.royalpurpleconsumer.com/products/synchromax-manual-transmission-fluid/

Silece2k6
RP is hard to get in Germany for a fair price. We use Castro Transmax Z or Motul Multi ATF. Cheers

rider
Got myself a couple of quarts of Royal Purple Synchromax and drained the gearbox. I wonder if it stains the parts purple at all seeing it resembles blueberry juice? After squeezing in almost both bottles up a length of fish tank hose I had a bad case of palm cramp. I'm going to have to buy myself a 12V peristaltic pump sometime. Edited February 22, 2016 by rider (see edit history)
