supra_ufo
Hi folks, I am going to Montreal for work at the end of Jan for 2 weeks. Yes I know its freezing but I have a weekend all to myself and wondered what I can do to most efficiently make the use of my time. I have the following in mind 1. Niagara Falls - Yes everyone says its not all that great but I have always wanted to see it and hopefully at that time of year it will be frozen (6 hour drive from Montreal) 2. New York (6 hour drive from Montreal) 3. Explore the great outdoors Just looking for advice from people who have been and are familiar with the areas... My plan was to possibly finish work on Friday, grab a bite to eat and head out towards Niagra Falls, stay there a night and im fresh in the morning to spend time there. For folk that have been... how long can you spend there until you get bored? Is it worth staying the whole weekend? The other option depending on feedback is to spend 3-4 hours there and then head into america and drive to New York where ill spend the night there and do the typical tourist things in the morning and then head back to Montreal (bit of a mission) Can anyone suggest anything else? cheers

David P
Visit a Steakhouse restaurant called "The Keg", there are two in Montreal and another two at Niagra. After you have, you won't want to eat anywhere else. http://www.fallsviewrestaurant.com/?src=googleppc/?src=googleppc&gclid=CjwKEAiA18mzBRCo1e_-y_KLpXISJACEsANGEFnkxM819UvC4VkZ0CiDavkl6G9Kg9iz_w-PoZYccBoCSwjw_wcB Recommended beer, James Ready 5.5. Wez
Niagra is worth a visit, do the Maid of the Mist boat ride, completely different experience from standing up top. Dont bother with the tunnels behind though, complete waste of money. Some good nightlife too

Hobgoblin
+ 1 for Niagara, it is a great spectacle. We were actually there on the evening that guy walked across on a tightrope. We drove from Montreal, the traffic in Toronto was hideous, took something like 4 hours just to get around around the M25esque ringroad. I'll be setting off from Montreal around 5-6PM so by the time I get to Toronto I should miss the traffic, will probably turn up at the hotel at 12am. I plan to have a stop off somewhere half way though.
