Scooter
The insurance tax has gone up from 6.0% to 9.5% but that's only a few quid on the value of your quote, so it would seem so!
Sanya
This extra £60 is there to drop it when you phone them. ))
Sheefa
Insurance premium tax is obviously a government tax so nothing us insurers can do about that, it is charged directly to the end customer. There have been some alarming trends recently in the motor insurance market. We've noticed that due to fuel prices falling through the floor more people are filling up AND are doing approx 20% more miles than the normal which means roads are more congested and accident frequency stats (attritional claims) are definitely on the rise. So yes, expect your premiums to start moving north.

Is their a way to stop all these bogus accident claims companies which are fuelling this increase to premiums?
Sheefa
We have an extremely vigilant fraud detection team in place mate as do other insurers to whittle out the staged claims etc. The MOJ changes will help keep costs down. In short of its a straightforward motor claim it can be settled through an online portal swiftly which has a fixed cost structure in place so Accident Management companies and Injury Management firms can't charge extortionate fees. It's early days yet though and quite often claims are kicked out the portal so these companies can raise costs! This does have an impact on all of us as you're well aware. Dnk
This extra £60 is there to drop it when you phone them. )) Possibly but the £203 price was all done online as well so if it has gone up £60 i'm not very impressed, that's a 30% rise ! Havard
Is it on the up now ? Just done some online quotes for a Z4 and an M3 so while I was at it I thought i'd price up my 330 BMW I insured it in June for £203 and now the same company want £263 ! On a generally low quote the percentage increase is always going to look high when it goes up. £60 is nothing really. A stated, shop around, loyalty gets you nothing with employment, insurance, women etc. H.
tkddav3
I had it last year, another years Ncb and my insurer wanted £100more than previous year, I said I was leaving so it went back down, greedy thieves!
Dnk
It does make me laugh when its renewal time My current policy with Esure is £247, the renewal is £270 so not too bad I popped onto moneysupermarket and Esure come up the cheapest at wait for it £
Annabella
LV for my shed Mazda have bumped up from £312 to £425, only nearly a 40% increase, no changes, loyal client with 2 other cars with them, do an online quote with them £351, they've also left on the auto-renewal which I specifically had switched off last year. Nothing like pissing off your loyal customers. Oh Direct Line will do £278 with better excess. As I have to ring LV to tell them not to debit the amount anyway I'll see what the spiel is. Dnk
I shall cancel with Esure and go with the next cheapest on moneysupermarket at £217 for the same cover with matching excess etc
Dnk
Thought i'd just punch the numbers again but swapped my NCB over which dropped it from 13 yrs to 6 yrs and has made no difference to the premium !! lol
Dnk
I just phoned Esure to cancel my renewal and the nice chap said give me a minute and i'll see if i can get the premium down a bit. I agreed but stated i wasn't impressed that on moneysupermarket his own companies quote for the same cover was £207 that they were now charging me £271 for, he agreed and they've matched it so i decided to stay with them. So my policy has actually dropped £30 from last year
