Dnk
Just called BMW history check to go over the details of a 59 plate Z4 roadster i'm looking at. It's a 1 owner with 7 stamps in the book and all at the same dealer, I phoned up the dealer after customer services to get info on the service work and mileages etc In 2011/12 it had a major front end repair totalling over £14,000 inc new bonnet, front panel, wings, suspension etc Time to keep looking think http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201511098564054/usedcars?logcode=visc

Dnk
Ouch! Well worth checking then Most definitely and lucky for me it was done by BMW Would this have shown up on a regular vehicle search ? It's been repaired so not written off so would it show up if repaired by someone else other than BMW ?
keron
only if it went through the ins co as a total loss and was declared as a cat d or c etc Most definitely and lucky for me it was done by BMW Would this have shown up on a regular vehicle search ? Dnk
only if it went through the ins co as a total loss and was declared as a cat d or c etc That's what I thought so if you had the car repaired outside of BMW then there would be no record of it that's traceable
trebor69
Going to have to be extra careful now as from October they have done away with categorizing cars as cat C/D etc.
ripped_fear
Well done for checking DNK most people wouldnt bother much further than a HPI check. Dodged a bullet. Going to have to be extra careful now as from October they have done away with categorizing cars as cat C/D etc. REALLY!
st3ven1
Picture 6 in the advert gives it away, the bumper/headlight and front wing don't line up. You can even see the white tab underneath the headlight that you shouldn't be able to see. The steering wheel also looks extremely new, which would suggest the airbag went off and a new wheel has been sourced. Great catch though, but I'm sure someone out there won't be as vigilant. If it reflected in the price then it wouldn't be so bad but its right up there money wise

Doesn't look that great a repair then now I've had a close look at photo no6, also seems to show some marks in the paint round the towing eye cover
SupraP-Z
The fact that its been repaired at a main dealer doesnt mean much, there are dealerships everywhere that hire absolute tools to do the job instead of a skilled professional who puts out quality work each time. Likewise if you took the supra to a dealership, a lot of them wouldnt know whats what. We have a ford focus as a family car that has gone back to the dealership about 5 times now, each time it comes back something isnt working - people are seriously incompetent nowadays
evinX
Amazing. You would never guess by looking at the headlight/wing fitment. Somethings not straight behind there.
Abz
This proves my point about folks who bang on about HPI checks and would never buy a Cat C or D car. I have gone to see tonnes of cars which have been involved in accidents but do not come up on HPI reports. I have no qualms buying a cat c or d car as long as the damage is mainly cosmetic. It is shocking the amount of cars on the market which have had work done but not noted anywhere on a central system. Nice find Dunk
