Chris Bailey
As above! Just to add, recommend some tyres other than R888. Looking at 265/35/18 and 315/30/18 maximum budget £1000 for a set. Dads already had a reasonable quote on a set of Pirelli P Zeros, but having done some research there are some mixed reviews about them. Thanks
Wez
I have tried P Zeros and didn't like them at all, Michelin Pilot Sports are much better IMHO
j_jza80
Looking at 265/35/18 and 315/30/18 I would not like to drive that in the wet!
tooquicktostop
With that width I can see why you dont want R888, they are scary in a downpour
Chris Bailey
We aim not to use the car in the wet if we can help it, but as you know with the english weather you can get caught out in the odd downpour.
Frank Bullitt
Another one for Michelin Pilot Sports.
James
I ran R888s all year round on mine - 315/30/18 up front and a 285/30/18 up front. Didn't find it that bad to be honest! Great grip on the dry though!
Sheefa
Toyo Proxies T1-Rs here mate and they've been awesome.
johnd-mkiv
Running toyo proxies on mine if you see my passengers face in the rain last night you would not chose them either with the power your running I think it's a losing battle. I'm running r888's next year and accepting it's a toy

jsnlvxr
I use rainsport 3s.very good tyres I think. Handle the supe well at bpu and the lairy 450 fwd vxr
j_jza80
I've had T1-R's on a few cars, always thought they were great in the dry, and pretty good in the wet. Running Vreds at the moment, been very impressed. Great all rounders for the money, though I don't think they'll last as long as the Toyos. mplavery
I'm going for R88 all round next but I was impressed with my Dunlop Direzza's R03G's
Hemanhead
R888's everytime - you wont be pushing it in the wet anyway, so why compromise ?
j_jza80
R888's everytime - you wont be pushing it in the wet anyway, so why compromise ? You may have to do an emergency stop in the rain because of someone else's driving though I loved R888s on my single, but they're not suitable for daily drivers. Especially when you take into account the short life of the R888s, which makes them expensive tyres.
Havard
Do they do Vreds in those sizes? Mine were amazing in the wet.
j_jza80
That's the downside with them, choice is limited.
Rob W
Tried Pirelli P-zero, Toyo T1R, Michelin PS2, Vredestein Sessanta and Continental's. The best out of them all is the Vredestein's. Pirelli's were the worst IMO. Edit: Oh and trying to fit the widest tyres you can on the rear doesn't mean you'll get more grip. This maybe so, but i am pretty sure this isn't a Bailey daily The grip in second on R888's is simply something else. The cost of their short life more than pays for itself in smiles. It's only standing water thats really a problem anyway, not the wet.
johnny g
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. Best road tyre around IMO.

The cost of their short life more than pays for itself in smiles. It's only standing water thats really a problem anyway, not the wet. They're also terrible in the cold I loved them, I was able to thrash an Evo 6 on a very twisty local Road largely because of the R888s and my TRD diff. But like I said they're only suitable for a second car. I wouldn't run them on my current one, unless I got a spare set of wheels. Also, they are terrible for picking up gravel, stones etc and throwing it into the wheelarches. My Top Secret spats were knackered within a few months of fitting R888s. That will no doubt be the same for all soft compound track tyres though.
ManwithSupra
With that width I can see why you dont want R888, they are scary in a downpour I had experiance of this on the way to Silverstone when the track car was road legal. Went up the night before, ended up in torrential rain for the last 20 miles, I wish I got some footage of me trying to keep the car in a straight line going 40, I have never been so Knackered from driving. I think I aged 10 years on that one night,
bignum
R888`s here, nothing grips like they do in the dry then take it easy in the wet, i drove most of the way back from germany in the wet they arent that bad.
