Soopra Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 To cut a long story short the valve on our water/heating system is stuck open on both heating and water and as a result we either have both on full blast or neither... It's just a white square box... Is there anything I can do to switch the heating off? I've set the thermostat at zero and turned the heating off on the programmer... Help before I melt please... Soopra Posted December 11, 2015 Author Share Posted December 11, 2015 It's the valve that switches between heating and water that's failed. It's stuck open on both. I've solved the problem by switching the whole system off. We'll have to turn it on when we want hot water. We have TRV's on all the radiators except the lounge which has so valves at all (something I will be mentioning when they come out to fix the valve) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Havard Posted December 11, 2015 Share Posted December 11, 2015 Is there a lever on the side of the valve as you should be able to manually over ride it. You should also be able to control the whole system via the heating thermostat as you r hot water in the cylinder will stay warm for ages if it is lagged properly. Sanya Posted December 12, 2015 Share Posted December 12, 2015 Havard is right, there must be a small lever which travels in a groove as motorised valve opens and closes ( unless it's a solenoid) and the radiator in a lounge is supposed to have no valve so you can't completely stop the circulation.
