Overheard in the local Ford dealer, exasperation ruled.

Whilst waiting at the customer service counter at a local Ford dealer the foreign lady in front seemed to be getting more and more agitated. it seemed she'd bought some fairly recent Ford model privately off Ebay. The heater wasn't working and she'd had their service department investigate the issue. They'd found a broken heater flap inside the heater box. Cost to replace it was circa £640. She was claiming she had no money, 4 cold kids in the car, relatives to visit over Christmas, and that Ford should fix it for free. The guy behind the counter remained calm and stoical, standing his ground that a repair would not be free, nor even subsidised. The woman was becoming near hysterical, and waving her arms about, and banging her fist on the counter. The counter guy remained steadfast, and time passed. In a final shriek of indignation and rage the woman cried, "Well, what am I to do, I have nearly no money, I am a single mother, I have cold children, they'll be ill, they might *DIE*. I can't even see where I am going through the windows, the car is a death trap".

The guy thought studiously for a moment then said loudly, "Well madam, I would take them to a charity shop, get 4 cheap but warm coats, pick up a train timetable, and sell the car come Spring, we could store it for you for a fee". On that note he disappeared out the back, not to be seen again, to be replaced by a colleague who ignored the woman now threatening to sue Ford and have her friend sacked, and served me...

I am sure these counter people could (and perhaps should), write a book.

Yep, I've heard the eastern Euros giving it sh*t round the doctors and dentists too, they think the UK owes them something and we're idiots, they have a sh*t attitude if it don't go right for them.

Skoda and Dacia?

The nerve of it, bloody immigrant cars, coming here, taking our dealerships. Send them all back.

It sounds like this lady is not very bright with poor manners which has nothing to do with being a foreigner, we don't know the full history of the purchase though, maybe she was promised a warranty or the car is still under factory warranty which in this case she might be right, the flap should be repaired by Ford. Factory warranty is valid regardless who you buy a car from

The "local" Ford dealer is a fair way away ;) Bear in mind I myself am a foreigner in these parts, one is not trusted until at least 3, very preferably more,

generations have elapsed without leaving the county.

I got some real grief when I moved here, verging on the unpleasant, until I bit the bullet and told the worst perpetrator that he should welcome us "outsiders" as

it was quite apparent some fresh genes were needed locally :) A do or die remark, but the risk was worth it, he shut up and is maybe yet still working on my implication

some years later ;)
