formatzero
Does anyone have any experience of this? The past few days I have been getting them quite bad, it is very noticable and I'm having trouble sleeping. My mate had a problem with his heart missing beats ,had a 24 hour monitor fitted and turned out he needed a pacemaker, now fitted and problem solved, don't know if that's what you have?. Pudsey
Often brought on through stress. Although, my advice would be get a thorough check up carried out at the doctors. It will certainly help to put your mind at rest.
Alex_GT
I don't feel stressed, I've been out of work for about 8 weeks so I've not had much to be stressed about. I went for an ECG and chest x-ray a couple of years ago but they couldn't find anything, but now it seems to be coming back again, but I'm not sure if it's really happening or if it's just psychological. mwilkinson
I think psychology and stress have a part to play, but there must be something underlying for this to happen. I have had this in the past too. Numerous tests completed but nothing. When I joined the RAF and did my aircrew medical they found an irregularity in my heartbeat, but clearly it wasn't significant as I passed my pilot medical. I do find if I'm stressed now I get a pressure in my chest and my heartbeat is very pronounced. If I fixate on it I find it gets worse. I just try to chill out relax and take my mind off it. If in doubt get it checked out.
Pudsey
I wasnt going to elaborate on it for fear of making things worse, but reading you have already been for tests etc. My cousin was taken into hospital with a black out, happened out of the blue. They did all the tests under the sun, discharged him saying nothing was wrong, and on the way home came over feeling funny as a passenger driven by his wife. He said just get me home I will be fine, his wife made a split second decision to take him back to the hospital. They got him in the door at the hospital, and he passed out. They then detected an abnormality with his heart beat, which wasnt evident before. Fitted a pace maker as an emergency, and later advised..... If he was not brought back that evening, he probably wouldn't have survived the incident. Lucky was an understatement
SupraStar 3000
My mum has something like that. Think its called "Left bundle branch block". Maybe worth going to see your GP

Tricky-Ricky
Don't start worrying, especially after reading some of this, its probably nothing at all to worry about, for instance most of my life I have had what some people call palpitations which are actually extra beats (from the specialists mouth) and also fast heartbeat, which sometimes would stop me sleeping, I have had tests etc and they found a slight abnormality which they told me not to worry about and it wouldn't effect anything, and I have been relatively healthy. Now due to being bothered by the fast heartbeat again I have now been put on beata blockers to even out and slow my heartbeat, and now its fine, the only thing that seems to make it fast again is too much sugar. So bottom line make an appointment to see your doctor.
Ric
My missus had this, had a 24 hr monitor fitted. Had over 250 incidents in that 24 hrs. The doctors put her in the lowest dose of "beta blockers" she's been ok since only here and there she gets them. Nothing to worry about on the lower end of the scale though was our doctors advice. cered
Go to your doctor, don't take anything online as factual. Every case is different.
Alex_GT
Thanks for the replies I will go to the doctors tomorrow morning. The palpitations seems to have stopped but now I'm getting a soreness in my chest.
Tyson
I would get someone to drive you down to A and E as soon as possible
Kendo11
As above, get yourself to A&E for a check up at least mate. Not the most fun on a Sunday night but if you were to call 111 they'd be sending an ambulance.
CraigD0404
Does anyone have any experience of this? The past few days I have been getting them quite bad, it is very noticable and I'm having trouble sleeping. Hi I was getting these for a while, then while I was in A&E for another reason they found I had a heart murmur. For the next few months I had quite a few tests and scans done on my heart an they found I had a leaking heart valve. At first I was told I would need surgery at somepoint in my life to sort this but it wasn't require immediately. I then got sent for a camera down my throat so they could get a better view of it just to be sure and they found that the leak was now severe and not moderate, so therefor I required surgery ASAP. So in june this year I had open heart surgery to repair my valve. Since then my hearts beat is normal and no more breathlessness and tiredness, so I would definitely advise you to go to the doctor. it did mess up my life a bit at the time, had to stop uni and was off work a good few months but now I am definitely feel so much better. Nodalmighty
Check you aren't having an AF attack. I did and it was caused by Hyperthyroidism. If you are always knackered and just can't put weight on you may have the same. Does your heart beat at random intervals and rate during the attack? supra joe
Caffeine intake high ? I used to get them due to this.
Alex_GT
I went to the doctor's this morning and she checked my heart and did a blood pressure test and everything was normal, so not sure. I don't drink tea or coffee so the only caffeine I would get would be from soda but I don't drink much of that. The pain I get in my chest feels like bruising or from an injury, likes the muscles/cartilage that is causing the pain.
bignum
I used to get irregular heart beat like misses a beat sometimes when stressed and or just after doing vigorous exercise but kinda forgot about it now as ive chilled out somewhat lately. Havard
A Lemsip and a furious bout of masturbation can resolve most heart related issues. Can also reverse the Aids virus I am reliably informed. H.

Pete
I get it. It was at its worse in my previous employment. You don't need to feel stressed for your body to show it. I also found that certain stodgy foods brought it on worse, tiredness, dehydration is a biggie to bring it on. Usually goes after a few mins. I had them again recently - but I put that down to my father in law in critical condition in a hospital bed. I've had EKG and got a great video of my own heart from the guy that performed an echocardiogram. All looked normal aside from a slight "murmur" As above though - get it checked out as there's a remote chance there could be more to it.
