matt johnson
went out to check the car over after running really rough and found that number 6 plug was dead, that'll be the problem then!! I'm going to change all the plugs, leads and dizzy cap and arm as i haven't had the car long and think it could do with it by the looks of things(one of the leads is perished to) The plugs in there at the moment are Denso PK16R11. Shall i get these again or are there better to suit the small mods the car has(cats removed, enlarged down pipes, apexi induction pipe and filter)? Can you get uprated leads? Are the parts Toyota only or can you get them else where?
Gaz Walker
I'd go with the Denso Iridiums IK22's on your modded example Leads, uprated ones are available, expensive though, about £150 last time I checked! Regards, Gaz.

Gaz Walker
surely that cant be right mate as he is a SZ!! Wouldnt they be too cool a plug?!? A 22 would be alright, a 20 is fine also. Iridium and plat plugs don't/shouldn't be gapped matey. Gaz.
merckx
what are the standard plugs for an sz? The ones that you're using are the standard ones - Denso PK16R11
matt johnson
do you think i should go for those again? I took number 6 plug out as it would dead and the tip looks pretty burn't out but i think maybe due to life expiry more than anything else.I've only had the car a short while so its hard to know really. What plug would be a grade colder than the standard? Is it worth going for an iridium over a platinum?
Gazzawu
just keep the plugs at a rating of 5. dont think there is much of a difference between iridiums and platinum. iridiums prob last twice as long as platinums. as for gap just keep it at 1-1.1mm. HT leads just keep oem ones because i dont think u will notice much of a difference cos ur N/A. think they're £80 from toyota. as for ur distributor bits check how much corrosion there is. sometimes u can get away with just scraping the top layer with ur keep if its just a little bit.
