adnanshah247
Morning Gentleman, So i do a lot of DIY, I'm actually very talented and have taken on many projects for my dad etc. repairing his rented properties. Currently I'm working on renovating his Hotel which is a right PITA. Anyways, one thing that i do really want to learn and was looking online for was a Plumbing course. Now online they are £300 for 2 weekends for a basic plumbing course, no documented qualification etc. All i want is to be able to plumb a full bathroom and relocate radiators. Seen as xmas is round the corner and everyone can do with a lil extra scratch, i thought if theres anybody on the forum who can teach me i dont mind paying the same amount to you rather than a company. Please let me know as im eager to learn
j_jza80
Just something to bare in mind, as I have a lot of experience in this field, is that courses etc teach you a lot about the theory of plumbing, and many of the basic practical skills. They don't really prepare you for doing things on the scale of a hotel, so getting a plumber to teach you is the right way. For example, I have seen extra water storage plumbed in to a student house, and the plumbing side of it was fine (for diy) no thought had been put into the weight of water that the storage tank would be holding when full, and I suspect luck had more to do with it holding than timber or screws. You also have building regs to adhere to, regarding things like thermostatic mixing valves, dergo valves etc. Far more than you will learn on a two weekend course. Maybe a better solution would be to pay a plumber to do the work, on the condition that you can shadow him. You will learn much more than a course.
