Kieran2JZ
Just curious, I know this come on UK spec cars, did I come on J-spec cars? I have a j spec supra and would like a functioning active spoiler, so I'm wondering how hard it would be to retrofit and the price of a fully functioning unit these days
mc92
Yeah I believe they were an option on Jspec too. They should have a loom plug in the driver's side front wing under the headlight (grey, 5 pins) and a big plug behind the dash for the ECU (I think 18 or 20 pins). I've heard some of them don't have the behind-dash one so worth checking that it's actually there. If you don't have the loom plugs or don't want to buy an ECU you can always just run some wires and 2 relays to a switch which is what I've done, it just lets me put it up or down at will and not have to get up to 50mph. Nic
Many J-spec Supras were fitted with the active front spoiler. I'd contact Keron (who breaks Supras) he may be able to supply all the parts you need.
jim
AndrewOW on the forum makes an active spoiler over-ride module too, if you're retro-fitting the spoiler this will let you control when it goes up and down manually (rather than it deploying at a certain speed). Prices of the spoiler vary, I got mine about a year ago second hand from a member and paid £150 which included everything (the lip, mechanism, undertray, switch etc) but in Ellis' recent post people were suggesting that they were worth £250. There's also a switch currently in the for sale section that's going free of charge
Kieran2JZ
Cheers guys. Where abouts behind the dash would the plug be? as i currently have the speedo cluster out so would i be able to reach it with all the dash panels out?
j_jza80
Yes, the plug is generally around the lower right hand side of the dash, on top of the transmission tunnel. In my experience, most Supras have it.
