Guest Jon J
Hi everyone, I'm Jon and I'm new here. I'm looking at Supras in the States, and I found one that I was hoping I could get some advice on before I seriously consider purchasing it. First, can anyone tell me why a car with no prior history of damage would have a 45 hand written on it?
keron
I've seen a few with markings in the same place. Also found on the bell housing on most manual gearboxes...(5 speeds Defo) Have you done a carfax?
mwilkinson
Hi Jon. I wouldn't think twice about it. Once you start looking deeper at the car you will find numerous hand written markings on the back of numerous components. The interior trim is riddled in them. I assume car fax is the US version of an HPI check over here in blighty? If so this is as best you can get to checking accident damage unless it's obvious elsewhere on the car. It could be possible that it's had a replacement subframe in the past, either as a result of damage or just wear and tear. Ultimately it will be a judgement call for yourself. As long as it runs, drives and has no obvious signs of damage I wouldn't be too concerned. Best of luck with finding a Supra.
Guest Jon J
Thank you gentlemen. It may be a mileage mark from the last time the diff was serviced. It does have a clean car fax (The States version, yes), with two previous owners. I appreciate your advice guys I'm going to move forward on the purchase, thank you
Frank Bullitt
When you do, pop back and throw up some pictures and a spec list. We all love a good picture
