Dnk
Do they split the UK caliper bodies into they're two half's ?
MattP
It cost me £500 just for the stainless pistons when I rebuilt my set of UKs. so this is pretty cheap, I do like tinkering though. - - - Updated - - - It cost me £500 just for the stainless pistons when I rebuilt my set of UKs. so this is pretty cheap, I do like tinkering though. supra_ufo
Do they split the UK caliper bodies into they're two half's ? No because they cant supply a seal I was going to buy CW SS pistons and seals etc, they were willing to just charge for the reassemble and paint so pretty good

Dnk
No because they cant supply a seal I was going to buy CW SS pistons and seals etc, they were willing to just charge for the reassemble and paint so pretty good My concern is if you don't split them and shot blast them where the seals sit is a shoulder where the shot blasting grit can get stuck. I know this because I did it on one set then took them apart and was shocked to see how much grit was stuck in there. Hopefully the piston bores, brake line holes and bleed nipple holes are all blanked off before they do and blasting Edited November 27, 2015 by Dnk (see edit history)
MattP
I re honed the bores while I was on I don't expect to have to strip these brakes again in my ownership
Dnk
I re honed the bores while I was on I don't expect to have to strip these brakes again in my ownership Can I ask why ? the main bore is a clearance fit to the piston, the critical part is the groove where the piston seal fits
MattP
Can I ask why ? the main bore is a clearance fit to the piston, the critical part is the groove where the piston seal fits The Old seals had let some crud past and after speaking to Chris decided it was for the best. When I say a hone some may describe it as a light scuff. I did use CW pistons I quoted the price including stainless pins etc my bad. I'm pretty thorough honest... MattP
I got CW SS pistons CW calliper half seals CW piston seals CW Stainless pins New Toyota pad assembly's anti squeal shims etc Braided lines New discs and pads And powder coated the callipers while they were apart. and ofcourse new decals The problem with rebuilding brakes one thing just leads to the next you may aswell just do it all then at the end look at them and think I could have bought a bigger set haha.
