Gaz6002
Anyone else seriously bemused by the whole idea of 'Black Friday' being rammed down our throats? I am. IMO it brings out some of the worst of consumerist society - piling high cheap tat that doesn't sell on normal days, and fooling people into parting with their often much-needed cash because they think they can't resist a bargain. Think about it: there's a reason this crap doesn't sell in normal retail...

mc92
Yep, I hate it. It's embarassing to see people falling over each other and fighting to get overpriced rubbish they don't need just because it's on sale. They should have kept it in America. We are always one step behind America, what whatever becomes popular over there, it be on its way over here. Its only a matter of time. Secondary school Prom is another good example of this. j_jza80
On stuff they can't sell normally! It's stuff I would be buying anyway, but hopefully with a few hundred £ off I hate the scenes of people clambering over each other to get a few £ off a TV as much as anyone, but there are.some benefits to it. Supragal
Personally I think there are some genuine deals. If people are stupid enough to buy things just because they are on sale, that is their own fault and no different to any other sale.
Style
They're closing one of the big 24hr Tesco's local to me for 5 hours or so to prepare a little better than what they did last year. They made no preperations for when midnight hit and all Hell broke loose, bodies literally flying in all directions. Videos on Facebook and stuff of people just going at it over a tele. Really brought out the scumbags in my neck of the woods Retailers will still make a considerable wedge of profit at the end of the day whilst shifting a huge load of summer stock so as to make space for their Christmas stuff (which again, will be overstocked and then sold off cheaper on the 26th December. See the pattern ) That said, it looks like us car guys at least get a bargain here or there Either that or we pay far too much for 364 days of the year! T2 MSW
Not everyone has the same rules of put offers on the crap we can't sell. But the scenes of people clambering over each other to get £50 off a tele are a joke.

Think about it: there's a reason this crap doesn't sell in normal retail... This rant leading me to another rant, bought my Supra on last Black Friday, first went in to the bank try to withdraw cash to pay for the car, and the bank told me they will need days notice to get large sum of money, so that idea gone out of window, ok what to do now? Panic button, contacted seller and suggested bank transfer, OK bank transfer it is, as money being transfer to the seller the bank told us it's Black Friday, the transfer will take a bit longer, I'd ask how long will it take, their reply was around lunch time, I thought that's ok, I am catching the coach to where I am pick up the car, the money should be clear before I get there, but he'll no, the money didn't clear until 6 to 7pm, I went through hell to arrange to pay for car on that day because it was a three way stand off, the seller needed the money to pay for the car they were going to buy, in the end we've managed to sort it out, but the stress I had on the day worse then when I bought my first house, the feeling was sickening. Black Friday can go back to where it came from, it causing our banking system to a total melt down
