Wez
Thread hijack, but was there a fault code showing on the dash (engine MIL, etc) before you did this? I'm curious about how severe a problem needs to be before it illuminates the MIL. Yes, the engine fault indicator was on.
Tyson
Yes, the engine fault indicator was on. No fault indicator and no fault codes stored in the ecu. They said that it was just a visual inspection they did and if I wanted them to find the fault it would take them 5 hours at 60 quid an hour to take the engine to bits. They wanted the cash up front before they would look and then 300 to put it back together again ....... but if it was an engine fault they wouldn't charge me for the parts ...... I am going to take it to a garage I know and get them to look at it then get back on to them to fix it. I for see a long battle ahead
Tyson
1 litre of oil in under 100 miles Yep I explained that to him and the guy kept trying to fob me off that it is an old high miles diesel and it will use oil. I asked him if he thought that was reasonable to be using 1 litre every 100 miles and he dodged the question every time.
Benjy
Don't bother asking them to fix it. Report Trading standards Give the car back Have a chat with your local paper. Kick up a stink. It's struggling to start and using a litre of oil every 100 miles. My wife had a 1.4 TDCi Fiesta van. 219k miles when it was sold. Never used any oil. There is a technical term for the engine in your one Mike. It begins with F and ends in Ucked.
