JohnA
It just broke. No stress, no warning, nothing.... scary. Who knows how to fix this now? When it comes to bodywork I'm hopeless... http://www.max-boost.co.uk/stuff/broken_hatch_sm.jpg
absz
theres two nuts on the inside to remove the hinge, you will have to remove rear roof lining clips so the lining hangs down to get to them . it seems that the hinge pin was seized causing stress to the metal. JohnA
so does this hinge go in parts, or is it one assembly and I have to undo it from the roof and the hatch door and replace it with a new one? Nothing was seized, the hatch always worked fine, is this a weird failure or what?! Can I trust the other hinge now? Anyone with working EPC guys, please help
Gaz Walker
Did this on my first Supra. Hinge is less than £15, you need someone with a rivet gun to fix it... Gaz

JohnA
Thanks guys, I guess normal garages will have a rivet gun for this, eh? Shocking, how could this thick metal part fail like this? It bears no load to speak of, does it? WTF...

Gaz I arranged an appointment with a garage that has a rivet gun. Turns out no rivets are involved, just 2x12mm nuts on each side. Gaz, did you rivet yours shut then? lol... Gaz Walker
Gaz, did you rivet yours shut then? lol... I dunno this was 3 years or so ago when someone else looked after my car! Either they just said it to bump the price up or justify how long it took Glad you got sorted! Gaz.
