add heywood
Maybe a stupid question but looking at tanks to mount up for my water meth. Would I run into problems if the tank was designed to be a sealed unit? I'm looking at some aluminium tanks on ebay and they are designed to be radiator overflow tanks with a 1.3 bar cap. Tricky-Ricky
Yes as the water/meth is pumped from the tank it needs to be replaced by air, or you get a vacuum and the flow will gradually reduce and screw up the the measured amount injected. a98pmalcolm
There will be a little hole in the cap of the take for air to get in, my AEM kit has... IF you want to run an alloy tank drill a small hole on the cap... Its pin size..

I thought the tank had to be plastic. as meth dose weird things to the ali.

Good point, it does, but I think if its a 50/50 mix it may take some time to effect the alloy.
T2 MSW
Yeah has to be plastic, or just don't store the Meth in the tank for a long period of time. May need a drain plug too
add heywood
Had been wondering about that also. My first plan was to use my windscreen washer bottle so may continue down that route tbh
T2 MSW
little web research shows that molybdenum stabilized grade of 316 L stainless steel is methanol resistant but washer bottle should be the best bet
Chris Wilson
Yes, it needs to breathe in air to replace the lost fluid volume. I use the stock windscreen washer vessel, a 50 / 50 methanol and water mix is also an effective screenwash. Most commercial screenwash additives are methanol based.
