Neighbours!!!!!!!

I'll start with a picture:

attachment.php?attachmentid=206788&stc=1&d=1447873019

Important bits are labelled. The dashed arrows are the "drive in - reverse into drive" line. Drawn roughly to scale.

I have had my neighbours moaning at me because apparently my car being parked as in the picture is in the way and an "inconvenience" to the t**ts that live 2 doors down.

As you can see, my car does block next doors garage, which they are fine with, as we are very friendly with them. It however does not block access to t**ts driveway at all.

Apparently his wife cannot drive in and reverse her Golf straight into her driveway. Tonight, when they asked me AGAIN to move it out of their way, I did a little experiment. I got my wife to stand at the point where the corner of my car closest to their drive was. I then drove in, and reversed straight onto their drive with no hassle at all. I drive a saloon by the way.

So, their claim of "it's in the way" and "it's an inconvenience" is quite simply a cover for "she can't drive for toffee".

They have threatened to go to my landlord, which is funny in itself, because I'm pretty sure them saying "his car inconveniences us" is going to be a long way down his "give a f**k" list.

On top of this, tonight I have pointed out to them that during the summer he parked his van across my garage, stopping me from having access. Did I moan about it? No. There are more important things to worry about than a temporarily blocked garage.

Secondly, on two occasions he let himself in to our garden and knocked on the back door. Pretty sure that's trespassing as I have never given him permission to do so.

I have now informed them if that happens again I will call the police and have him done for trespassing.

I have also informed them that my car may or may not end up parked there again in the future as it is convenient for me, and really isn't in the way. They didn't like that much.

These neighbours are that petty she told me to "get a life" after I spoke to them, as if it was me that had been making petty complaints.

Some people should have hit the end of a condom, not an egg!

I would be inclined to put a camera up looking at your car buddy, they don't sound very nice and may take action against your car :(

And it is indeed trespassing He should use your front door.

Ps nice drawing skills :p

A picture paints a thousand words mate ;)

Do they have any legal stand point? I.e the area parked is for emergency access? Bar the persons garage you are parked in front of.

You should tell them that not being able to drive whilst holding a license is an offence & you'll report her. :D

Playing devils advocate (and not wanting to get banned!) do they have any basis for complaint? Ie, is anyone actually allowed to park there or is it a turning area? Assuming the drawing is to any kind of scale it does look they have to drive around your car and it could be tight (for a woman) to reverse.

Where do visitors park?

Nope. Just being petty complainants.

Is your car parked on a road as in the picture?

It's not a road, just garage and driveway access. The road stops about 30 feet to the left of the picture effectively.

There is a car and a half width straight line past mine into their driveway. I consulted the plans of the estate and it's labelled as "Access".

She actually played the "us women aren't as good at driving as you men" card lol

why cant you park in the corner where your garden is ?

The corners are other gated driveways.

Sigh*,.. Some people are so damn selfish.

What if you want to drag a corpse from your car to garage???

Are you expected to leave drag marks all over the drive as you heave the uncooperative carcass across the road?

Btw, nice drawing :)

YOU'RE ALIVE!!!!! I've missed you Ed!

Ed, missed you..!!

Your post raises a couple of comments: 1) His drawings will never be as good as yours. 2) Your mentioning of a corpse reminds me of this joke. How many dead prostitutes can you get in a garage?

2 more if I move my bike...!!

Sorry John, this isn't helping is it?

if its taxed and insured and not causing an obstruction , and by the quality draft its not tell them to go fxxx off , to many fxxxxxx arseholes around these days that just want to cause people problems "just because they can"

Effectively I have. I've told them it may end up there again it may not. It depends on how convenient I need the car to be.

The thing is, if they had asked they would know it's temporary because of the damage to the Supra. The Supra is in the parking space waiting to be transported to the garage for repair, rather than in my garage as I can't push it in there as there is an upward slope away from the garage door. Usually it is in the garage and the daily is in the parking spot. Once the Supra comes back it will go back in to the garage so I can finally tinker with it.

Apparently his wife cannot drive in and reverse her Golf straight into her driveway.

This, for me, is the important part of this whole dispute. I take this to mean that his wife would be one of those ultra-annoying people who stops in the middle of a main road, blocking the traffic, and then reverses into an access street and all the way on to the drive. Rather than, y'know, pulling in forwards (thereby having having a modicum of consideration for other road users) and then reversing onto her drive!

If his wife drove in forwards, she'd still have to reverse at an angle just to get her car into a position whereby she could then reverse straight onto the drive. So you are, effectively, saving her fuel and time by removing the option for her to reverse straight back!

Methinks she should be thanking you... and possibly resitting her driving test too....

No easy way out of this one. People can get quite territorial about the road immediately around their home. I remember a thread on here a while ago where someone's neighbour was in the habit of parking a big van (and it was big, several steps up from a transit) outside their house. It wasn't blocking anyone's driveway and was parked on a public highway, but it didn't provide a pleasant vista unless you've got a thing for big white vans. The consensus on here was that the van shouldn't be parked there.

To go technical: Your diagram marks out access paths, but does the access area include where you park your car? If where you park your car is considered Access, you might have a hard time arguing you can continue parking there if things escalate down the Call the Authorities route.

To play Devil's Advocate, your neighbour might not be as skilled in manouvring a car as you are. She can probably do it, but maybe she struggles with manouvres (quick plug for my campaign to make drivers retake their test every 10 years, you knows it makes sense!). We've all seen people who make a meal of parallel parking or a 3-point turn even when there's plenty of space.
