kevin smith
Can someone tell me what the black diagnostic box under the bonnet is for, is it for the engine alone. And could someone tell me what lead I can buy to fit it please.
Chris Wilson
A special Toyota tool fits it, but you only need a short bit of wire or even a paperclip to get it to spit fault codes out of the dash via the MIL light. The known codes are in the tech section on this forum I think, but I advise you buy the engine manual if you are into home repair.
Ric
As per the last thread you made.. i posted the link telling you how to read the engine codes with just a paperclip...
kevin smith
Thank you, I know you did but I would rather use the right tool, as I am unable to get down under the dash as I broke my back in a motorcycle crash and have trouble bending. Swampy442
The right tool is a paper clip and the knowledge contained on the forum. The actual right tool is 1500 quid new, or I saw one on ebay the other day used for 990 quid.
Ric
It's not under the dash? You even said your self, it's under the bonnet... Obviously not read anything that's being suggested... Can't help some folk.
kevin smith
Thanks Ric I guess it's going to be a paper clip then, and my mate will have to get under there lol.
