What tax band to register a Japanese Import!?

vertex

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm hoping someone will know the answer to this!

I've imported a 2004 Toyota Aristo. It has a full UK mot. Along with my V55 form to register the vehicle, I need to send a cheque for a years tax.

How am I suppose to know what band the vehicle should be in?

I've called the vca, dvla etc. All seem to bat me from one post to another!

Hopefully someone here has experience importing and registering a car?

Thanks

The v55 form is quite confusing even with the guide they provide. You don't even need to fill in half of it.

Mot just has percentages and random numbers. Mot stations don't have the equipment to test for actual emissions used for tax.

But you can just take it for an mot without doing the v55 ?

I had a truck take it from port to a mot station. After it cleared mot, truck to my house.

If you have correct insurance in place you can drive it from port to a preappointed mot station. However many insurance companies only insure vin numbers just for registering with dvla. Not actual driving.
