Guest Big red johnson
Hi all, got a weird one (I think), during driving the car suddenly drops all boost, won't change gear and then the o/d light and the slip cont off lights start flashing, this stops me from putting the car into manual mode and also wipes out the traction control. I've just wiped the ecu of any old error codes and recreated the problem, stopped and did an ecu error code test but it shows no error codes. Any thoughts? Looking at prior threads regarding similar issues they have always given an error code. I would have thought this kind of thing would have thrown up a error code of some description. (Car is a jap tt auto) Thanks in advance.
Tyson
I'm not sure if it would but does it have a speed converter ? These seem to cause all manner of electrical gremlins.
Guest Big red johnson
Hmm I believe it does, no idea where it is or how to test if it's working properly though
Chris Wilson
Have you, or anyone else fiddled with ANYTHING on the car recently, however unrelated that fiddling may appear to be?
Guest Big red johnson
Nope nothing, the thing that's confusing me about it all is the lack of an error code.
David P
Check that the bulb that should show an error code actually functions?
Guest Big red johnson
The management light flashes continuously when I bridge the diagnostics ports.
David P
Take a look behind the odometer and see if there's any after market wiring, as has been mentioned above, many strange happenings can result from these tinkerings.
Guest Big red johnson
Will do when I get a free hour or so, not overly bothered, just annoying when it happens and losing all power for a few seconds.
David P
When you do resolve this please post up the fix for reference, these Gremlins are turning up often just lately.
Chris Wilson
I would check the main ecu connector, and the ecu engine ground wires under the intake manifold, and (I think...) on the body shell to the left of the main ecu. The workshop manual shows their locations.
Guest Big red johnson
I've got an emanage blue under the passenger seat as well, I'll check the connections there too.
Chris Wilson
Oh, right, all bets are off then, could well be something to do with that thing! Especially if its wired like many I see
