David P
Check for fault codes, maybe you'll find a 42?

kevin smith
I am not too mechanically minded, but the car has had the speedo converted to MPH, I don't have the tool's to check error codes. Does anyone know a suitable mechanic in Essex that I could go to.
Ric
You dont need a tool, you need a paperclip and to perhaps use the search box on here.. Again, in the FAQ section http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?35920-How-To-Check-the-diagnostics-codes
David P
IF it is an error code 42, first check the joints on the speedo conversion, if that doesn't fix it, the pink wire mod will. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?72588-Code-42-Fix&highlight=pink+wire+mod

David P
A couple of minutes looking at the Workshop Manual would have saved you having to wait a day to find out that it is on the side of the transmission a little further forwards than the no. 2 speed sensor. ronttuk
Now i know its on the gearbox ill look at repair manual thanks for your help.
David P
I doubt the sensor will be the problem, more likely as I have already informed you.
