Kendo11
Morning all. My Supra has been sat outside and uncovered pretty much since May when I moved house, before that it was sat from last Christmas. I'm gearing up to get it back on the road in the next few weeks and getting it finished. I've had it ticking over for about 20mins every 2/3 weeks on the driveway and have had the battery disconnected at other times so it doesn't run flat. Should I be wary of checking/changing anything other than the following; - Remove rust from brake discs - Oil change - Coolant change - Check tyres for flat spotting - Will be getting it undersealed too Anything else I should think about? Don't want to take it for its first spin in a year for it to fall to bits on me. Cheers
evinX
- Remove rust from brake discs - down the road and give the brakes a good working - Oil change - not unless its due, moisture wont get it, and it wont burn being sat - Coolant change - every 5 years unless it hasn't got red to it - Check tyres for flat spotting - and dry cracking on the walls - Will be getting it undersealed too Also on the first drive go fill the tank. And give it a good clean
Style
Had your handbrake on? That'll need a bit of working to free it if you have. Other than that, there's not much else I can think of other than a good first wash
Kendo11
Cheers guys. Yes I have had the handbrake on, realised about a week ago I should have left it off with chocks! In terms of freeing off will that just occur naturally with a slow drive or what will I have to do? In terms of oil & coolant this might sound stupid but I'm worried about those fluids just sat there, will they not clog up or anything daft? Al Massey
In regards to the handbrake, stick it in gear (engine off obviously), release the handbrake, get out of the car and rock side to side. If it has seized you will hear it clunk. I've never had this problem on the supra but have on many other cars. The longest I've had the supra stood still for was 5 months. Dnk
I wouldn't change any fluids but just check all the levels, engine, g box, p/s, brake fluid Check the tyre pressures as well
Kendo11
No worries dude, I wouldn't worry about everything you hear/ read on the internet, just makes life difficult. Yeah it's probably mainly just me scaring myself to be honest. In regards to the handbrake, stick it in gear (engine off obviously), release the handbrake, get out of the car and rock side to side. If it has seized you will hear it clunk. I've never had this problem on the supra but have on many other cars. The longest I've had the supra stood still for was 5 months. Cool, will do mate. If you need a hand mate just give me a shout Who do you think I was thinking of for the oil and coolant, you're on speed dial! [GRIN][/GRIN] I wouldn't change any fluids but just check all the levels, engine, g box, p/s, brake fluid Check the tyre pressures as well Good shout on the tyres.
