ripped_fear
As above. Looking for an electric polisher to use occasionally on my cars and for doing some parts. My dad works in the trade and uses some brilliant pieces of kit but most are very expensive and just polishers. Due to my lack of experience and for the added safety I want a DA but most of them seem very under powered with a third of the power of a normal polisher. He personally thinks I shouldn't get a DA. I have a budget of somewhere between £80-£150 but ideally somewhere around £100 would be nice. I have all the kit but just need the machine so don't need a big kit. Any recommendations on a model, I know the meguires one is re branded kestrel one but would consider any. So what do people have? Thanks in Advance. berg
I still use the original DAS6 i bought about 7 years ago Does the job perfectly, not something id use on a car that needs a heavy detail and heavy scratch removal, rotary would be best for that But for removing most swirls and generally keeping paint gleaming its great I always thought about upgrading to the pro but to be fair its not worth it
craig85
This is the one to get, it's got another 300W on the Meguiars so should be plenty powerful. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/cat_81.html To be honest if you use it correctly and keep your pads moist you don't need too much power anyway. They do have a new plus version I'd like to try out but it's slightly out of your budget and is only 880W, the main difference is that it has a longer throw. A rotary is much faster but comes with its own risks so I wouldn't advise it unless you are confident in your own ability
ripped_fear
Thanks Guys the DAS6 is what I have been looking at but the one above is another 30 cheaper than the equivalent pro version one on ebay. is that site reliable to purchase from? Josh42
I also use the DAS6Pro If you google "Das6 discount code" you'll find one for 10% off. I brought mine from cleanyourcar which is where I buy all my cleaning kit from.

Yeah, they've been around for ages and stock almost all of the mainstream brands, until you get really deep into detailing you can't go wrong

cered
I have a £40-£50 Silverline rotary polisher and it's paid for itself numerous times. Don't be afraid of the rotary polisher horror stories
ripped_fear
Did consider the silverline and despite it being a low spec machine, for the price it seemed great. But have now ordered the DAs6pro now hopefully it serves me well.

Graham1984
Detailing world is a good site to join as they have an ongoing discount with Clean your car who I buy most of my products from.
ripped_fear
Thanks for all the help, I joined up and purchased it last night so will report back once its arrived. Normally dont buy detailing things from online as I mainly use trade stuff, the problem is my dads suplier didnt stock DA style ones. Looking forward to getting this blue back to its former glory

But have now ordered the DAs6pro now hopefully it serves me well. It has been brilliant, but with the D/A will be just as good and quicker to use. Takes a bit of effort using a rotary... and practice lols I recommend Lake country and 3M pads. Menzerna polish is brilliant for the money, but if you want the best it'll be 3M. Meguiars bodyshop polish is pretty good too

Sheefa
Bump - just bought myself a Das6 Pro Plus too. I'm very new to polishing so going to have a go at getting some swirl marks and surface scratches out on the company BMW first. I went with the Meguiars stuff. Any tips/advice gratefully received. Read a few guides on the tube and will take it steady. Cheers

The Megs demo's are just crap IMO- whats the point in using an extremely tidy car.
Shane
My son who is a OCD cleaning/polishing/detailing obsessive has used the silverline ones now for a while with great results, think he got it from Toolstation, and am pretty sure the pads are available there too for a good price.
