Tomyspeedy
So, after owning the car for awhile now it's gotten to me. The front badge was upside down and I couldn't stand it being so glaringly wrong to me. I've carefully removed it in one piece but it has left behind this: I would like to remove it all before re attaching the badge in the correct orientation. So due to my lack of experience in such matters... What do you recommend I use to remove the remaining adhesive? For bonus points, what should I use to secure the badge after? Tommyd16
I think halfords sell gunk remover to remove sticky stuff
Max5437
I have used tar remover (autoglym from halfords was about £6) to great success, just need to apply it then let it settle then using some more on a microfibre and it should come off. Have just de tinted a window this way
peter richards
yes glue and tar remover , but what youll find it where the glue is hard try and break it down then keep applying the remover , at least the badge is going back on so not to bad if the paint is marked
cered
glue/tar remover will do it. spray it on, let it settle for 10-15mins. spray some more on and scrape off with something like a credit card, rub off the remnants with a cloth. Clean it off completely, polish, sorted
Tomyspeedy
Having some real trouble, luckily most of the badge is symmetrical so will hide most of it. It seems to have been stuck on with super glue, the tar remover is slowly breaking it down. Been applying it for an hour at a time to really react with it. Can't wait to have it looking right again! Max5437
Same scenario I'm in with removing rear windows tints, I found soaking it then applying some to a microfibre and applying light pressure and rubbing worked best but still took nearly 3 hours to clear a rear window
krisgowing
Who would even want it upside down..
SupraP-Z
I used a wallpaper steamer to take off a friends tints, worked really well for removing the residue as well - followed up with a clean with methylated spirit and a buff up with glass polish - came out brand new
Tomyspeedy
I'm just paranoid about damaging the paintwork! The glue is so solid that its quite happy to bring up the paint with it. I'll take my time with it and get it looking right with minimal damage.
