Reaver
Hey Y'all, My Seatbelt has bitten the proverbial bullet and no longer wants to play. It's refused to rewind for a while but now it won't move in or out of its home. Has anyone ever tried to take it apart and refresh a seatbelt tensioner? I'm guessing that there are compressed gubbings inside that will try and evacuate if I open it up so i'm not jumping into the task. If it's easier to replace, i might just do that. (Keron, if reading this, can you please PM me a price if you have one in stock - or anybody else if you have one) Cheers
GTR Fever
Had a similar problem with mine..Would come out but not recoil. If I leave the car overnight the belt would have magically recoiled itself. Ended up buying a new OEM unit from Keron.
rider
There is a thread I have seen where someone stripped the belt mechanism and effectively retensioned the spring. Try searching google. Alternatively just buy new belts but then you will lose the date stamp on the belt which is a good way to backup age verify the car. There are also some 'tricks of the trade' applied to frozen belts of a certain age. The simplest is to remove it and put it into a hot tub of soapy water for 15 minutes. If that works then make sure you blow dry it afterwards and lightly talc up the belt Edited October 24, 2015 by rider (see edit history)
