nickyboy
Hi, I know loads of people here have their own webspace which is why I'm asking your advice.... I need to set up a website for a sports club but am wondering the best way. If I buy the domain name then the web hosting charges seem quite steep. I think I can get it to then redirect to freespace...(?) And if so where's the best place to find some of that?!! Any guidance appreciated. Cheers, Nick
AJI
most ISP's have a free webspace option for you to sign upto. Even my tiscali dial-up pay as you go account gives me 50MB of free space. With 50MB you can put together a good enough website with lots of info. But if you need LOTS of space then it will be a case of having to pay for it I guess. SilverMachine
Go to http://www.purple-paw.co.uk We use these all the time. You can register a personal hosting for £25 a year, which includes 40MB disk space and a free .co.uk domain name when you register. Very cheap! Make them aware that you want both together though or you'll miss out. they also provide an excellent trouble shooting service should you have any technical issues. Really friendly! See how you get on. Cheers, Gaz
scooby_doo_do
I used http://www.streamline.net - they were the cheapist i found, when setting up my mates electrical company. Craig.
Shovels
Watch out with hosting companies offering things for free! There is often a clause in there somewhere which means they make their money back in the end. Or what you get is pretty crap I've seen 'free' hosting companies charge over £100 to release a domain name. OK it's not a problem if you don't mind loosing the domain name.
